Brands To Know ARQ ARQ is a small woman-owned brand offering the comfiest bra tops and undies ranging from an XS to 3X. Their pieces are made in a family-owned US sewing factory out of GOTS certified organic cotton and BlueSign certified dyes (safely dyed with non toxic chemicals). I love how inclusive and diverse their feed and models are, and I literally live in their high-waisted undies. For my Canadians, you can buy from Beaton Linen (a size inclusive susty brand based in Vancouver) to avoid duties and all that. Heralogie Heralogie is a woman-of-colour-owned small brand based in SF, offer ..read more

The holidays are here and amidst the festivities, I wanted to share tips and ideas for sustainability-minded gifting! From rethinking how we buy gifts, to ideas that support the circular model, to low waste aesthetic gift wrapping, let’s dive in.  we need to rethink how we buy gifts Before sharing gift ideas, I think it’s important to address how unsustainable gift-giving is. It’s not sustainable to give gifts without being fully certain the recipient actually wants and will use their gift for a long time. I was trying to find stats on holiday returns and I wasn’t surprised that percenta ..read more

What do we really know about the entire fashion system? From natural fibres to the ethical treatment of garment workers, it seems like we’re checking off all the components of what and who make our clothes. But what about the farmers who harvest the fibres? Or the textile workers who dye the fabrics? I’m breaking down the entire fashion supply chain in this post to figure out what we’ve missed so far, what brands don’t really talk about, and what we truly need to know to be conscious consumers. The fashion supply chain we knoW As consumers, we’re choosing more natural fibres and paying atten ..read more

it’s on us as consumers to support better brands With brick and mortar stores re-opening and consumers falling back into pre-quarantine shopping habits, I wanted to remind everyone that we cannot return to that normal. Because that normal is unjust. From brands like Reformation and Anthropologie now being boycotted for racist and discriminatory workplaces and sales tactics, to the intersectionality of sustainability and anti-racism, I urge us to continue demanding new standards from brands and voting with our dollars by supporting those actually doing good. What does good even mean anymore? Fr ..read more

After a ton of research, I decided to order a matching set from their Botanical Dye line - here’s my review. It's time to say no to the five dollar t-shirt.  Discovering the world of sustainable, ethical and slow fashion didn’t happen in a day for me. It started when I was researching Zara’s business model in high school for an economics class - fun tip they actually created ‘fast fashion’ as a result of their supply chain model. Over the years, I’ve learned something new everyday by choosing to actively stay engaged in this community. But I also remember how overwhelmed I was initially with the abundance of resources online. So I want to share with you my favourite content pieces - sort of like ..read more

I remember the first time googling ‘how do I become a sustainable shopper” - it was so overwhelming. There seems to be so much information out there but no definitive right way to do things.
