I wanted to know […] The post Become BioLogical- THE Course appeared first on Queen of Dental Hygiene ..read more

As a child, I would take my fingernail and scrape white “junk” off my teeth. That was plaque building up on my pearly whites. I wasn’t a great brusher then. But, in my defense, I really didn’t understand how to brush any better. I thought it normal to wake up with a fuzzy feeling on […] The post Ten Tips to Bust Biofilm appeared first on Queen of Dental Hygiene ..read more

Fluoride has been in the news lately and not in a good way. Dentistry has praised the ability of fluoride to reduce tooth decay- but it has come at a very high cost for our society. Those shiny, silver “amalgam” fillings.  Many, many of us have had them, especially if you are over the age of 40.  Yet, my friends, these seemingly harmless “silver “fillings are filled with 50% mercury.  (YES, that much mercury!)  As a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology  (IAOMT) I have learned just how dangerous these seemingly innocuous silver (mercury) fillings can be to our bodies.  Let’s call them mercury-silver fillings because that’s what they really are. They do great damage to our body, and our overall health.   ..read more

Ten years ago this month, I started my dental health blog. The most important part of my patient care is giving my patients information. Appointment times are far too short to scrape tartar, polish teeth, take x-rays or perio probe gums, and get the doctor to do an exam AND do patient education.  So, thanks to my lovely daughter and editor, I started writing weekly articles for my patients.  Queen of Dental Hygiene was born.    I love being a dental hygienist. More specifically, I love being a biological dental healthcare healer.  How is biological dental healthcare di ..read more

Children Get Gum Disease Too
Queen of Dental Hygiene Blog

Parents always ask me, “Does my child have any cavities?” What I also want parents to wonder and ask; “Does my child have gum disease?” People – parents – don’t know what they don’t know! Too often, we dismiss a “little bleeding” or tartar buildup in children (never mind adults) as poor oral hygiene and admonish them to brush and floss. Yet, this build up of plaque and bleeding are actually signs of infection and inflammation which cannot resolve on its own with more brushing or different toothpaste. They won’t outgrow it. It is a disease. February is Children’s Dental Health month so today’s ..read more
