Write 300 words on any topic, post it here. I know from my own experience that writers are always looking for the 'right time' to write, always seeking the elusive appropriate moment. Well the appropriate moment is now. I've just begun a writing challenge with a friend, where we are going to write 300 words on any topic every day throughout July, and this might appeal to some other users. Post every day, or whenever you want. Having a target can provide some much-needed structure. Here's my offering https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing ..read more

Hi, I'm sorry if this question has been raised before, but could anyone tell me what is the best way to go about publishing a children's book? We are not talking about a novel, or even a short story, more like a book aimed at very young kids - roughly 500+ words with illustrations. Also, should the illustrations be included when submitting to publisher and how long would it normally take to hear back? PS - unfortunately self-publishing is not an option due to lack of funds. Thank you ..read more

Anybody apply for the recent grants from the Arts Council? I applied with a collection of short stories but was rejected (no great surprise). The rejection letter said the stories were 'well crafted and lively but over determined'. Whatever that means. Anyone have better luck ..read more
