Generosity Isn’t Just Monetary
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran

At Christmastime out thoughts go to gifts we will give, and gifts we will receive. Being generous is part of living a happy and fulfilled life! Giving takes the focus off ourselves and causes us to consider what someone else might consider special or valued. As a bonus, giving empowers both the giver and the receiver! Fortunate that 2023 has been a prosperous year? Go ahead, feel empowered and give generously with gifts to others, extra donations to charity, and yes —go ahead— spend a little on yourself. For many, however, it may have been a difficult year and money is short. So how can we be ..read more

Gift Planning in Time of War
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran

The recent outbreak of war between Israel IDF and Hamas militants has the entire world on edge. The U.S. support of the war in Ukraine against the Russian forces is already straining the capacity of foreign aid overseas. How do we see the war? What can this mean for our investments?  Our original founders were inspired by a group of three individuals, one of which was Richard Enright, a former D.C. estate planning attorney, charitable planning pioneer, and advocate for worldwide religious liberties. His vision for all men to be inherently free and maintain religious liberty inspires us e ..read more

Lessons from a Young Rich Man
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran
6M ago
We’ve all heard the biblical story about the about the rich young man who approached Jesus to ask how to gain eternal life. Jesus’s first reply was “obey my commandments.” The man then assured Jesus that he does obey all the Lord’s commandments! So Jesus looked this young wealthy man straight in the eye and said, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell all that you have and give the money you make to the poor, then you will have treasure in heaven.”  The rich young man now had a dilemma. If he sold all he had how would he be able to live out his life until his time of death when he would en ..read more

Football season: the time of year when we invest over 2 hours watching men in one color of uniform repeatedly try to hold on to an odd-shaped ball while running toward a big “H” with the intent to get past that big “H” before someone in another color uniform trips him up or somehow manages to steal that ball and run with it in the other direction. American football field and ball on green grass. When one guy gets the ball over a white chalk line half of the crowd stands up and roars while the guy that took the ball over that line is mobbed by a bunch of men all dressed in the same color unifor ..read more

Prayer for Peace

Now in Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of the Cohort called the Italica, devout and God-fearing along with his whole household, who used to give alms generously to the Jewish people and pray to God constantly. One afternoon about three o’clock, he saw plainly in a vision an angel of God come in to him and say to him “Cornelius… Your prayers and almsgiving have ascended as a memorial offering before God.”  —Acts 10:1-4 Prayer for Peace Prayers and Almsgiving. Both are acceptable to the Lord and because of this, Christian charities are stepping up to give everyone an o ..read more

What Are Rights of Conscience?
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran
11M ago
At the Stewardship Foundation, our 5th Credo is: We believe… in the sanctity of human life, marriage and sexual morality, and religious freedom and the rights of conscience. There seems no better time in American history to explore these valuable rights. Rights of Conscience are political rights that protect our ability to do what we believe is morally best. For example, a right of conscience for an individual’s health may include seeking an exemption from mandatory vaccination, or for a physician to refuse to participate in abortion or sex-change surgery. There are three categories of po ..read more

Marriage: One Man, One Woman
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran

Why do we support marriage between one Man and one Woman? The fifth Credo of the Stewardship Foundation is this: We believe… in the sanctity of human life, marriage and sexual morality, and religious freedom and the rights of conscience. We support marriage only between one man and one woman because our faith binds in His Word. In the beginning (Genesis 2:18, 21-25) the Lord God said:  It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the ..read more

Why ProChoice is Marketing Genius
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran

The term “pro-choice” is a sticking point for pro-life Christians. Why? Because abortion advocates refer to themselves as “pro-choice” when they are clearly “pro-abortion.” Hooking together the two positive, uplifting words “pro” and “choice” makes ending a human life sound hopeful, even inspirational. Using the “pro-choice” term in conversation, education, and news stories gives “pro choice” proponents a huge advantage. Reality is, the unborn child is not given a “choice” between living or dying.” Only dying. Just 17 out of 50 U.S. states mandate that individual mothers be given counseling b ..read more

The Three T’s of Philanthropy
The Stewardship Foundation
by Joe Finneran
1y ago
Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, as expressed by the donation of money. While “charity” solves short term problems of the needy, “philanthropy” solves long term needs. A popular acronym is “The Three Big T’s of Philanthropy” — Time, Talent, and Treasure.  The 3 T’s promote the spiritual well-being of the individual giver and the financial and human needs of the poor. The word steward first appeared in language during the Middle Ages as a “job description” — a steward, or manager, of a large household. Over time, it was used more broadly to describe management ..read more
