Heyo! I work at a Marriott that uses FOSSE and has used it for 5+ years. My hotel management company has told us to not use the tax rule. After further inquiring, insisting on a answer, they have made this decision out of ignorance. They simply don’t know how to use above property.
Unfortunately I have never worked with any reports that handled the tax exemption so I’m unaware as to what report or system they could use. We have multiple rooms that are tax exempt and every morning we go through all 150 rooms and transfer the taxes off into a Tax Exempt HSE account. Recently they’ve made a slig ..read more

I’m the FDM and we get about 20 complaints a night and I just don’t know what to say to guests or suggest my team to say. Can’t give out refunds or discounts anymore, GM gets pissed when I pass off complaints to her and have had zero success in telling her and ownership this is ridiculously stupid.
Review scores are rightfully tanking and we’re getting chargebacks every day. Am I nuts for thinking this is ridiculous? I feel ashamed talking to guests and having to deal with this every day

All times in this post are local to Thailand and in 24-hour format.
So I'm traveling to Thailand, my plane lands at 08:00 on the 23rd of June, and takes off at 09:00 on the 20th of July. The hotel I'm staying at has a check in window of 14:00 to 00:00, and check out window at 00:00 to 12:00.
So I should book the hotel from the 23rd of June to the 19th of July, right?
I'll probably arrive at the hotel at 10:00 or so, I can drop of my bags there and find something to do until 14:00 when I check in, is that how it works? And what about check out? Do I need to book it until the 20th instead?

Could I use a photo high school ID and/or a birth certificate in order to check into a hotel as an 18 year old? I won't be the one paying.

How do you keep track of all the group resumes and arrivals and for the day?
We don't have space for 7 clipboards in a row.
I was thinking of an online spreadsheet but everyone sucks at excel.
Any thoughts?? The best solution i can come up with is a group Arrivals/in house section along with the vip arrivals + site tours report. Thank you in adv.

I run a small business that helps other businesses lower their electric and gas bills, and I am trying to see if I should be prospecting hotel owners. *I AM NOT ASKING ANYONE HERE FOR BUSINESS*, rather an idea of how much hotels spend in electric and gas annually.

I stayed at a nice Comfort Inn a few times and they have very fast WiFi. I have noticed that after just a couple hours, maybe 2 to 3 hours, I have to enter their 6 digit numerical code each time to get back onto their WiFi. Is it normal for a guest to authenticate that often? I was thinking if check in time is 3 PM and check out is 11 AM, a guest shouldn’t have to sign back in until 12 to maybe 18 hours after they first signed into the WiFi on that particular device. Is this something the manager adjust by calling an internal IT number to adjust the WiFi timeout period or is this the Choice H ..read more

So at the motel I work at, an aggressive man came in, at first I thought he was just a bit reckless but not violent, he didn't have his ID. He got it out of the car as I'm trying to get him a room. It was early check in but I was told to just charge people like this extra and extra deposit if they seem shady/local. Anyway his gf/prostitute/???? came in and he started punching and choking her. As someone with violence PTSD I froze up, I was being watched so I couldn't phone 911. I was racking my brain, so I called the two owners (who live on premises) one was upset and told me to just tell him ..read more

Hi everyone We (our band) are travelling to Nova Scotia this summer to compete in piping competitions. We’ve booked a hotel after MUCH back and forth and I’d like to say thanks to the hotel team who were so patient with us. Would bringing a bottle of our local booze or gift cards for local (to them) stores or something like that be appropriate? We will definitely be writing a review for them, any other thoughts?
