Maybe I have not been paying attention, but I was surprised to see an option to add a tip when I was settling our bill at the Lutetia. Is this now a thing?
If so, have any norms been established as far as expectations? Any percent of this large bill would be a lot and there was no indication of where the distribution
would go, so I passed ..read more

Where to stay in the Berkshires? Balantyre seems a favorite in this forum, but it's "Reopening in 2024". I can't find any other somewhat recent recommendations ..read more

Introduction Our annual western ski trip this year was to Big Sky, where we were excited to check out the new Montage property, making it our second Montage after after staying in Palmetto Bluff last April. It opened December 2021 as the only luxury ski-in/ski-out option in the area (One&only Moonlight Basin to open Winter 2024/25). Our trip was four nights in mid February, booked through FHR, and we had a great time. The theme is a modern, luxury take on the American Mountain West trope; some parts feel more luxury than others. Service was good, not perfect; in my experience, it rarely is ..read more

Looking for a place to have a small luxurious elopement- just us and a photographer. We're currently considering a winter event in Montana, and are looking at those two resorts, but there are not many reviews of Green O, and I thought I'd ask if anyone here has been recently. I did find some not-great stuff here, but it looked pre-pandemic ..read more

Couldn't find a Morocco Master Thread - can anybody recommend a high end surf resort? I am a novice but would like to spend a week or two learning how to surf. I understand April/May are the best months, and Safi is the most popular surf town, but can't find any info on luxury resorts ..read more

We took an luxury vacation in Africa last year and loved every minute - especially having private guides and easy transfers - we used one of the well known luxury safari companies and they delivered an awesome trip but we wonder how much extra we paid. They were there to help when our US departure was delayed a day, and affected our initial Africa itinerary.
We are now planning a trip to Spain/Portugal, but as we start to add things up we see that the "per person price" must include large company profits. Even if you consider $500 night for hotel and $500 per day for guide, that is $10K for 1 ..read more

Rosewood Seoul To Bring A New Urban Landmark To The Dynamic City, Opening In 2027
Nice to see Seoul get another Luxury Forum worthy hotel. I'm a bit confused on the location because their press release says it will be built on the site of the former United Nations Command but it also has frontage on Noksapyung-daero. That means a HUGE development site that would cut 1/6 of the Park or someone made a mistake on the press release ..read more

I'm going to propose to my wonderful partner mid May, and planning to pop the question on an upcoming trip to a luxury destination hotel that's reasonably easily reachable from the US West Coast. Which luxury destination hotel? Hrmm.
We're looking at a 5-6 day trip so our budget excludes Amangiri-level $4k/night places.
Options we are considering include:
1. One&Only Mandarina - there's some older, so- so reviews on this forum, which gives me pause. The photos look fabulous though
2. Post Ranch
3. Amangani - we love Jackson Hole and I feel there's something quite special and romantic abo ..read more

Interesting article on Skift today about ultra-luxe hotel brands and their expansion plans.
https://skift.com/2023/05/01/how-many-hotels-is-too-many-for-an-ultra-luxury-brand
What is your view - should ultra-luxe brands cap the number of properties, like Bulgari suggested at 15 or One&Only at 35? Would opening many more than that risk diluting the brand?
Also good point about the lack of loyalty programs:
It’s also generally a mistake for global hotel groups to see ultra-luxury hotels as something to acquire to feed into their loyalty programs as places for members to burn points. If t ..read more

it seems like all the luxurious hotels are in France/Italy/UK/Greece/Turkey, I'm looking for bucket list type hotels/resorts that are outside those countries.
Currently only have Six senses Duoro Valley in mind but that's about it, so would appreciate the inspirations here ..read more
