My son’s microwave quit working and he wanted to purchase a new one. The old one hung above his stove and that is where he wanted the replacement unit to be installed. I advised him to purchase the same make/model I had, and I would help him install it. I purchased a GE unite 1-1/2 yrs. ago. It is a low-end unit because my wife only wanted on/off and high for mode options.
While he was at the box store he called me and asked if he needed to purchase anything else to aid in the installation. I informed him that everything needed was in the box. I ..read more

I put a closeline in last year. It has started to sag into the middle. I dug a hole with a post hole digger to the recommended depth (2'), filled in a few inches with gravel, then mixed up some concrete. Posts are hollow steel. Ground around here can be wet and lots of clay below the topsoil layer. So, any way to fix it or to start over and make a better base? I have put a guy wire on one side but that makes mowing around it difficult ..read more

Good day folks, I have a little problem.
Our kitchen sink faucet all the sudden lost pressure. About half. For no reason at all it seems, I did a visual inspection underneath, the hot and cold water are on full max, the stainless hose that the faucet detachable spray nozzle is connected too, is not kinked nor blocked. There is nothing visually that seems to have caused the sudden low drop. The face of the nozzle that has all the spray pattern holes in it, is clear and clean, no deposits blocking the flow, it's a pretty new faucet, I installed earlier this year. The rest of the house is flowing ..read more

must have really went up. I was in Lowes just a little bit ago to get a handy box for some wiring changes I'm making in the basement. I went past the Romex and it was all behind locked cage doors. I had just bought some UF at Menards a couple of weeks ago and while it was expensive I wouldn't categorize it as a precious metal just yet ..read more

Hi - My question is regarding cabinet scribing. When installing cabinets and finding the walls not to be straight, I take the cabinet back out to the shop and make modification to the sides to get it to fit the wall. At the age of 66, this is not something I want to be doing. I've haven't tried this but couldn't I just take a similar size piece of 1/4" hard board or plywood( height and depth) and scribe that first and then transfer that to the cabinet? Thus eliminating any trips back to the shop with the cabinet. I guess if the floor has a some peaks and val ..read more

I mentioned a few months ago that I was volunteered to remodel my son’s bathroom. I have a few family members who think carpentry is woodworking. Not so, but my son needed the help, and my wife would be the project manager. October 1, I started the demolition. The toilet and the walk-through door would be the only items reused in the new bathroom. This bathroom is a small room which lent itself to difficulties along the way. Also, nothing seemed to be level, plumb, or square.
The initial bathroom had a window in the shower/tub area and there had been a leak ..read more

I'm remodeling my son's bathroom and the old copper lines have compression fittings for the shut-off valves. I want to install new valves. After a loosen the nuts the sleeves will not move when I pull on the nuts. I do not want to cut the the sleeves and nuts off because then I will have to sweat on an extensions. Do you have any plumber tips for me? Can I put on a new valve and use the old sleeve and nut?

If you are like me you prefer sharp mower blades. I like to sharpen them with each mow. So I cycle three sets for my ferres 48" zero turn
But it's still a massive $#$&@&$#*% PITA~!!!!!!!!!
I got these great grinder disks from PFERD, They are fabulous I got them in 2019 for my large and 4.5" grinders. I've done a lot of shrarpening and mill scale removal and the disks I installed back then are still on my grionders.
Unlike flap disks if used correctly (Read Do not lean on them) they last forever and cut steel like butter.
Anyway I got a triton gizmo vice th ..read more
