The developers have had a bit of a troubled time lately, announcing a brand new game and then having to cancel it the same day after laying off more than half of its staff.   Flaming Fowl is a studio based in Guildford, UK, that was opened in 2016 by developers who left Microsoft (and Lionhead Studios). Their first game was Fable Fortune, a card game based on the Fable license, and they released a hit game, Gloomhaven, in 2021. On Tuesday, they announced their next project, Ironmarked, which already had a demo on Steam, but is on hiatus due to the unusual financial situation in the gaming ..read more

And Dean Carter got to give his opinion to none other than the BBC! (The BBC News interview gives the mod national exposure…)   Carter said that Bethesda never once contacted the modders who made Fallout London. As we’ve written before, the original planned release date had to be pushed back because of the announcement of a next-gen patch for Fallout 4, and because they know from the example of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition that the script extender could ruin a lot of mods, they pushed the post-apocalyptic London adventure back indefinitely… “April 23rd was a date that would ..read more

Naoki Yoshida (aka Yoshi-P), the producer of Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI, wanted to do something different, so after the dark fantasy style of the latter, he wanted to work on something lighter.   The two games differ not only in genre (the former is an MMORPG, the latter a single player), but also in style (the former is a lighter fantasy, the best of the franchise with stories, the latter is a dark fantasy like Game of Thrones). Michael-Christopher Koji Fox worked on both games, as he was Square Enix’s senior translator, and in an interview with MinnMax he said that Final Fa ..read more

The 27-year-old man, from Hitachi in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, has been charged by the Kyoto District Prosecutor’s Office, and he may have regretted threatening the Big N, as he caused the company to cancel several events.   The Kyoto Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper, reported that the 27-year-old man submitted a total of 39 threats via the interest form on Nintendo’s official website between August 22 and November 29. This means that about every three days he wrote a “nice tone” message to the Japanese company. Among his threats was one such as “I will make you regret ever bringing s ..read more

The Japanese company’s yet-to-be-announced console, which will likely follow the same format as the best-selling Nintendo Switch (portable but also dockable), will fall short of the performance of Valve’s handheld PC, but how big of a problem is that?   Eurogamer’s tech arm Digital Foundry has released a new video highlighting that it’s not a big deal if the Nintendo Switch 2 (remember, the console doesn’t even have a name yet due to the lack of an official announcement) doesn’t match the performance of current-gen consoles or what Valve’s portable PC offers, as the next console from the ..read more

TECH NEWS – Elon Musk’s company has huge expectations, but considering that in the first year of 2024 alone, Tesla has shown a 130% increase in computing capacity for training artificial intelligence, the company may be able to reach that goal.   The company is hoping for a growth rate of nearly 500% for the year. That’s certainly a lot, but Elon Musk’s ambitions are perhaps understandable. Tesla has between 30 and 350 thousand Nvidia H100 GPUs. Musk responded to a tweet, which has since disappeared, that the correct measurement would put Tesla second and xAI third, presumably in terms of ..read more

The game has completed its year-long Epic Games Store exclusivity period and migrated to Valve’s digital platform, but the Steam version of Dead Island 2 (currently available for €/$30; the sale runs until April 29) has not been received with great enthusiasm.   Dead Island 2 was a game that for a long time was considered vaporware, a product that would never be released. It was finally pushed to the finish line by the Embracer Group (which recently announced that it would be split into three parts, and there was talk of this in the news). Critically, it didn’t get huge scores, but it was ..read more
