With this year's olive harvest complete, we can confidently say that the season has been good in general terms. The production volume has been abundant, thanks to consistent rainfall throughout the year, which helped the olives replenish their water reserves. Additionally , the olive trees that we had to cut back due to Filomena (as they froze) have started producing again this year. Furthermore, the oil yield has been quite good (around 18% on average), which will be reflected in the quality of the oil and the earnings from the delivered olives. Harvesting is done manually using Sthil shakers ..read more

At the end of October we had the opportunity to attend one of the stops of the MF eXperience Tour 2024, held this time in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville).  It is the second time that we have participated in this demotour, the previous visit took place in Albacete. Despite the rain, which, coincidentally, has accompanied us on both occasions, the truth is that it was still a very enjoyable and engaging day . As we’ve mentioned before, this event is designed with farmers in mind, focusing on a smaller, select group of participants. This allows for a more personalized experience, where each att ..read more

Fruit Attracion 2024

Fruit Attraction fair has become increasingly significant in the agricultural sector, particularly in the fruit and vegetable industry. This fair is held annually at Ifema (Madrid) and the best word to describe this fair is "spectacular". Although it differs from the fairs we typically attend, being more focused on handling and marketing rather than directly on farming, but we have to admit that it remains highly attractive. This appeal stems not only from the fantastic stands but also from the unique atmosphere that Ifema consistently offers. Fruit Attraction is undoubtedly a must-visit event ..read more

Automated spraying

Nowadays, there is a high demand for automated machines that streamline work processes These machines are designed to perform tasks more efficiently and therefore save costs. On the other hand, these machines are more expensive than manual ones (due to the presence of extensive electrical and electronic components), but in the long run the savings are considerable. Of course, the more frequently the machine is used, the sooner the return on investment is achieved... if the machine is heavily used, the amortisation is faster. The optimal choice is to have an ISOBUS machine, but this also requir ..read more

Our friend Timo (from Laihia - Finland) and author of the website konedata.net sends us his comments and photos from last week's visit to the EIMA farm fair in Bologna. A farm fair with an ever increasing number of visitors (record attendance at this edition) and which showcased all the latest machinery and technology from the 1,750 exhibiting companies. Without further ado, here is Timo's summary: Biggest agricultural machinery exhibition in Europe this fall was EIMA in Bologna, Italy. The uncertain economic situation did not weaken the popularity of the exhibition: there were 346,000 visitor ..read more

After 5 years of waiting, the most significant event organised by Fendt in Spain took place once again, this time in our region, La Mancha (Manzanares - Ciudad Real). Nearly 200 tractors and almost 3,000 attendees gathered for r the event, celebrating the spirit, pride, and sense of belonging to the Fendt community. Although we were not able to attend, so we cannot give you our first-hand opinion, we would like to share this post to highlight the event and its significance for the German brand. The event was opened by José Ramón González, Fendt’s Sales Director for Spain and Portugal, who intr ..read more

Ploughing competition

Some of the activities typically included in the broad agenda of events  planned for the patron saint fairs in the villages of La Mancha (in our area) are related to agricultural competitions. These often feature a ploughing competition and a trailer manoeuvring contest, where farmers have to demonstrate their tractor handling skills. For spectators, these events are quite interesting to as the tasks are highly challenging and demand a significant level of expertise from participants.  It is also true that all these agricultural competitions are becoming less and less popular over th ..read more

Samson TG24 slurry tanker

During our visit to FIMA last year, one of the machines that immediately caught our attention was the Samson TG20 (2-axle) slurry tanker. Upon arriving at the Durán Maquinaria Agrícola stand (the importer of the Samson brand for Spain), our eyes were quickly drawn to the imposing Samson slurry tanker, which conveyed a level of strength that few tanks on the market can achieve at first glance. Moreover, we were lucky enough to meet our friends Diego and Samuel from the Gala Merino livestock farm in Escalona del Prado (Segovia), who told us that they had recently bought it in its TG24 version. Gil short disc harrows

A few weeks ago, the Spanish manufacturer Gil provided us with one of their disc harrows to test on different terrains, and we’ve had the opportunity to conduct the necessary trials on our farm. Before sharing our impressions, we would like to point out that Gil specialises in cereal seed drills, but for years they've also developed a strong line of sprayers and soil preparation implements. The fast harrows are one of the implements that have recently been added to its portfolio. As for the Gil short disc harrows, we could comment: There are from 3 to 6 metres working width. 24 discs (3m) to ..read more

Finishing cereal campaign. Baling days

As we mentioned in our previous post, we have closed a historic year with exceptional results, achieving yields we had never seen before. At the end of the season, the only task remaining is the baling of cereal straw (barley, wheat, triticale) and pulse vegetables (yeros and lentils). This work is normally carried out in our village by service companies from Murcia and some from Albacete. For many years now, for example, the Rosado Brothers (Bullas - Murcia) have been welcome here for baling the remains of the harvest. This year, other companies such as El Parra from Bullas, Murcia, and Soria ..read more
