Tony Russ, Beloved Legendary Teacher, Coach, Administrator Passes Away By Wally Mieskoski ’71  Tony Russ ’66, a long-time teacher, coach, administrator, and a legendary figure to thousands of Benedictine students, has died on June 30, 2024 at age 75. Russ served in many roles while at Benedictine including Dean of Men, Athletic Director, and wrestling coach before retiring in 2013 after 44 years at the school. Mr. Joseph Sweeney ’98 has been elected the Board’s new chairman. Mr. Sweeney is a managing director at Deloitte & Touche LLP and has served as a Benedictine board member for the past three years. Benedictine Wrestling will compete at the OHSAA Division II State Tournament today and tomorrow! The Men of Benedictine held a clap out for these guys as they left for Columbus yesterday. Good luck to Senior State Qualifier Jake Dolan and our state alternates, Sophomores Chris Maloney and Antonio Hobbs! Jake Dolan has qualified for the State Tournament for a second time and will wrestle at 138lbs after his 2nd place finish at Districts.
