This is a very sad and tragic story about two women who were very good, long-term friends.  They enjoyed a well-respected place within the community in which they lived. In November 1979 they were at the home of one of the friend's recently deceased mother, a detached property in the green countryside of northwest England.  There was a knock at the door. On 17th April 1984, a number of the Metropolitan Police officers were on duty in St James Square, London. At that time the Libyan Embassy occupied No 5. The officers were to police a demonstration which consisted of supporters and dissenters of Colonel Gaddafi, the Libyan leader.
