Sometimes there’s interviews you just say no to isn’t there? For example Romelu Lukaku’s verbal diarrhea earlier this season that effectively ruined his Chelsea second coming. Boy I bet he regrets that! In the main our players don’t really partake in these outspoken controversial interviews do they? It’s generally well structured and articulate chats with the likes of Keith Downie at Sky, or even when Trippier conducted his brilliant interview with Youtuber and fellow Magpie the True Geordie. These interviews give the fans a good insight in the players character off the pitch, and often bring ..read more

What a Toon Bruno plays!

NUFC 2-1 Leicester The Toon Army have a new hero, and his name is Bruno Guimarães. The Magpies went in to yesterday’s home game against Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes with a new found sense of confidence. After all, Eddie Howe and his team have turned St James Park, a previous gift giving ground for visiting sides, in to a Black & White fortress, where you need to be 100% at it to get anything from Tyneside. Leicester City were in action mid week in the Europa Conference beating PSV 2-1, and as a result of that rested some key personnel in James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho. NUFC 1 Wolves 0 (Wood pen 72″) Friday night under the lights at St James Park. It’s been a while hasn’t it? Newcastle United went into last night’s game against an in-form Wolves side competing at the end of the table the Magpies longingly look forward to being involved in. We were expecting a tough game for Eddie Howe’s Black and White Army. The visitors were without key men Raúl Jiménez and Rúben Neves, and it really showed as the Wolves were largely toothless for the majority of the game. The Toon Army saw Bruno Guimarães make his first start at St James Park, and boy did he make the most o ..read more

It’s not a great time right how for Manchester United fans it’s safe to say, if you haven’t been keeping up to date then check out what the boys at Armchair Reds have been saying, or just even open Twitter up and search MUFC. It won’t take you long to get up to speed. Such has been the fall from grace of this magnificent football club, from dripping in success over the years and led by quite possibly the most successful manager of the modern era in Sir Alex Ferguson, to its current guise is almost unrecognisable. Last night they were put out of the Champions League by Diego Simeone’s Atletico ..read more

After a couple of matches on the road down in the capital, a sold out St James Park was the location for the latest instalment of the Premier League as Newcastle hosted Brighton.  Eddie Howe named an unchanged starting eleven from the side that beat Brentford last weekend but there was a place on the bench for winger Allan Saint-Maximin who had missed out recently with injury.  Graham Potter made four changes to his Brighton line up as Duffy, Alzate, Gross and Welbeck were named in the starting eleven.  After a touching minutes applause for Ukraine, the visiting side got th ..read more

Fresh off a hard fought 2-0 victory away to Brentford last weekend, Newcastle are back at St James Park as they entertain Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion. The Magpies have turned their fortunes around over recent weeks after a dismal first half of the season. The St James Park outfit find themselves in 14th place, four points above the relegation zone after a current unbeaten run of seven games and they certainly aren’t taking their foot off the gas just yet. Eddie Howe will want to make sure that his team fight for every point available, their next three fixtures after this weekend ..read more

1,700 passionate Newcastle United fans made the 604 mile round trip down to the capital as the Magpies looked to extend their six match unbeaten run in the Premier League. The last time they had a longer unbeaten run in the league was between May to November 2011 in a streak that lasted eleven matches. Eddie Howe named an unchanged side from last weekend’s draw against West Ham, Allan Saint-Maximin didn’t travel as he recovers from his calf injury. As for the hosts, Ivan Toney and Christian Eriksen took their places on the bench. Newcastle got the game underway and neither side found their str ..read more

Jack’s back! Wilshere heads to Denmark

We were all starting to wonder whether we’d seen the last of Jack Wilshere. In recent months & since his departure from a relatively underwhelming spell at Bournemouth he appeared to looking more likely to joining the ranks of other washed up former players like Gabby Abaonglahor & Jamie O’hara at Talksport, but thankfully he’s decided against it. It would’ve been a bit of a shame to have seen the end of Jack’s once promising career at just 30 years old, where he should really be at the peak of his powers not headed for the Knacker yard. Plenty of English teams have had more than enoug ..read more

Howe do you like him now?

When Eddie Howe was appointed Newcastle United manager there was a collective “Meh” by many in the mainstream media. I don’t quite know if it was a combination of their affection towards the recently binned Steve Bruce, or whether some, and I genuinely believe this is true by the way, have an agenda against Newcastle (see Oliver Holt) and that’s a huge reason for the negativity towards Eddie’s appointment. It’s possibly a mixture of both. We all know what happened with the Unai Emery incident, and how that potentially came across, but it’s important to remember that Newcastle’s new owners did ..read more

The Magpies travel to the capitol this weekend as they face West Ham United. Eddie Howe’s side will be hoping to make it four consecutive league wins after they battled hard on Sunday to leave St James Park with the three points against a below par Villa side, where as the Hammers come off the back of a hard fought 2-2 draw away to Leicester as they challenge for a top four spot. The Magpies have won their last two Premier League matches at West Ham but have never won against the Hammers on three consecutive visits in their league history. The last time West Ham did the Premier League double o ..read more
