Hello all and welcome to another edition of How to Make LEGO Arrowverse Customs. So far we’ve covered a wide array of characters from Arrow to Legends of Tomorrow, but we’re not done yet. The Arrowverse is home to a plethora of characters that LEGO hasn’t made into minifigures and probably won’t ever make. So, without further ado, let’s return to the world of Green Arrow and the Flash and get right to it. The Flash (Season 5) Out of everyone on this list, the Flash is the only one to actually receive a LEGO minifigure, several actually; but these minifigures range from the film or comic adap ..read more

Hello there and welcome to a continuation of the LEGO Arrowverse Custom Minifigures series. Once again, we are delving into the branch of DC comics that LEGO has only to this day made Comic-Con exclusives for: The Arrowverse. Since it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a Waverider or a S.T.A.R Labs set any time soon, fans of this TV universe and LEGO have to use their own creativity (and spare parts) to bring the CW roster of heroes and villains to life. Fortunately, me and my brother have a blueprint for you. In my last article of this series, there was a predominant focus on characters from ..read more

Make Your Own LEGO Arrowverse Minifigures (Part 1)

LEGO has been releasing Marvel and DC themed sets consistently since 2012. Strangely enough, outside of a few Comic-Con exclusive minifigures, LEGO hasn’t released any sets that are connected to the CW’s DC Superhero Shows (commonly referred to as the Arrowverse), which also debuted in 2012. Now, the Arrowverse is home to some of my favorite DC characters like Green Arrow, Deathstroke, and many others, and while LEGO has released sets containing some of these minifigures before, they haven’t been related to their Arrowverse counterparts and they’ve often only been included in one model. So, s ..read more

A Toy Photographer’s Review of LEGO CMF Series 21

LEGO photography is one of my most satisfying and relaxing hobbies. The little minifigure characters are cheerful and optimistic like I am, and their stylized appearance allows the viewer to use their imagination to fill in the gaps in their details. Speaking of details, one of my favorite things is customizing a figure for photography purposes. I’ve created a “mini-me” or “sig fig” (signature figure) to use as a stand-in for myself in the LEGO world of my photos. Just like me, she’s a photographer and explorer of the wilds of nature. Today, I’m going to look at the newest LEGO CMF Series ..read more

4 billion and counting …. No, not the number of people in the world in *1974… well, at least not the human one, but, in the LEGO world, and more precisely the world of LEGO minifigures/minifigs. Where else on earth could you imagine having ABS made minifigures in circulation since 1978! Yes, this is year marks the 43rd anniversary! Yes, I know what you are thinking, that no-one celebrates 43 (or 44 for that matter), but, 50 years… it has more clout and even for marriages is a milestone. But, 43 is still significant and worthy of note. To avoid waiting another seven years for the half-century ..read more

All the (LEGO) President’s men

As well as being able to use the many thousands of parts available to make your own mini version of yourself, there are also mini versions of famous people.  For this article, I’m going to look at four American presidents who have been immortalised in LEGO form. Joe Biden Joseph Robinette Biden Junior was born in 1942 and is the 46th president of the United States. Although his father had been wealthy, the family suffered financial setbacks around Joe’s birth and where they lived (Scranton, Pennsylvania) fell into economic decline in the 1950s, making it difficult for his father to ..read more

LEGO Collectible Minifigures – Which is the Best Series So Far?

The new series of LEGO collectible minifigures (CMF) has been released; the twenty first of the series. I wondered what could be considered the most successful series to date and this article is how I arrived at my opinion. I think it’s worth noting that this latest release isn’t actually the twenty-first series but is possibly the thirty-fifth (and by my reckoning, at least the thirty-seventh). It is the twenty-first series that isn’t aligned to a specific theme as there have also been CMF sets for Disney, the Simpsons, the two LEGO Movies, the LEGO Batman movies, Ninjago , Harry Potter, DC ..read more

Custom Minifigures: Is it real LEGO?

As we head into Christmas, parents and grandparents will be starting to buy presents for their families; if there are children involved there is a likelihood that this will include some form of brick-building construction toy. But not everyone has deep pockets and so the budget-conscious may decide to buy something “off-brand”. In this article, I’ll look at this very grey area of custom minifigures and ask the question “does it really matter”? “It’s for children isn’t it?” This statement was made to me as I queued to enter a LEGO exhibition a few years back; it has stuck with me ever since. I ..read more

Star Wars LEGO Minifigures in Need of a Remake
Minifigures Blog

LEGO has produced over a thousand Star Wars minifigures since 1999 and continues to make new ones at an astonishing rate. In 2016 alone, LEGO made 114 new minifigures for the license. Jedi, Sith, droids, bounty hunters, aliens and many more have all made it into LEGO form and as the years go by, these LEGO minifigures tend to get increasingly accurate and detailed, but sometimes it feels like an important character hasn’t had an upgrade in a while. Today I’ll be going through the top 7 LEGO Star Wars minifigures I feel are overdue for a remake. Number 7: Luke Skywalker (Celebration) The notor ..read more

Music Mascots and Masks in LEGO

I recently created a MOC (My Own Creation) of Iron Maiden’s mascot Eddie in his “Trooper” incarnation and it got me thinking of other things I could create. This article will look at different versions of Eddie; but also, some of the more interesting masks and mascots that are used in the music industry and how to create their LEGO version. Iron Maiden and Eddie The music magazine Kerrang ran an article recently ranking Heavy Metal mascots. In first place, perhaps unsurprisingly, was Motorhead’s Snaggletooth, but in second place was Iron Maiden’s Eddie. Given that in both cases licenses have b ..read more
