In the autumn of 2017 I came along to Saxon Crossfit to watch a class and ask about giving it a try – I wanted to add some variety to my fitness routine which any the time involved a bit of cycling, running and some generic leisure centre classes. I was hooked when I saw everyone dragging tyres around the car park and throwing the heavy d-balls around – women and men side by side all doing the same. I spent the first few months at Saxon doing 3 crossfit classes a week, learning all the foundations, making friends and learning what Crossfit was about. I admired all the strong, fit and fearless ..read more

When you finish work, wake up in the morning or you are sitting at home trying to motivate yourself to go and exercise how does it feel? Do you feel enthusiastic and energised by the idea of exercise or, like me sometimes,  is it a chore to be avoided at all costs. We all have goals we want to achieve in terms of fitness that we have set ourselves and we search, sometimes daily, for the willpower or motivation to reach them. So is it motivation that gets us to the gym or is it sheer will power that gives us the impetus? The words ‘ motivate’ and ‘will power’ seem the same don’t they? Howe ..read more

We often hear the words ‘Peace and Goodwill’ used at this festive time of year. The words are found on Christmas cards, in beautiful carols and spoken between people. But what do these, often used, words mean to you, in your situation and particularly this year? This has been a tumultuous year for many of us. Some of us have lost a much loved member of the family or are still grieving for a loved one, so many people have fled their homes, frightened for their lives and for the lives of their families. Many people have lost jobs or are finding their bills impossible to pay. Where do the words ..read more

Everywhere I look there are inspiring words written and actions performed by “everyday” people. In my experience there is no average person, everyone has some unique gift to inspire. We celebrate the well known, famous, the news chasing as these are the ones we see. When you look around your own community to your local “ordinary” people they are doing extraordinary things. This article by Barbell Beauties inspired me. We all, mostly all, crave a quick fix and would love to have an easy comfortable time achieving our dreams and ambitions. But if we are too comfortable aren’t we missing out ..read more
