Acid Horizon is a theory podcast which confronts global crisis and the specter of a world that could be free. One of the many goals of Acid Horizon is to enrich discourses of liberation through a non-sectarian approach to reading theory. In the spirit of thinkers like Deleuze and Guattari, we endeavor to provide a space which values theory as a creative force, not just as the topic of debate...

Workers of the world unite, we have nothing to lose but our chains! But just who is this ‘we’? How do we identify the proletariat, the revolutionary subject, and how does the proletariat identify itself in the midst of an intensifying threat of economic precarity and capitalist immiseration. This ‘we’, to quote Wilhelm Weitling, is a tricky question. Today we’re taking a dive into Historical Materialism with the latest book in the series “The Poetry of Class: Romantic Anti-Capitalism and the Invention of the Proletariat”, with author Patrick Eiden-Offe and translator Jacob Blumenfeld. Acid Horizon continue their conversation with the folks over at Mimbres School by sitting down with Sean Capener, who'll be teaching their "History of Damnation" course. We read Sean's "On the Fall of the Angels: Economic Theology After the Middle Passage". In this paper, Sean shows how St Anselm's Christian theories about the economy of salvation and Man's debt to God can inform a critical view towards our own narratives about debt and credit under racial capitalism through the mediation of figures in contemporary Black Studies such as Saidiya Hartman and Fred Moten.

The Acid Horizon crew venture a deep dive into Karl Marx's "Theses on Feuerbach", both celebrating and challenging aspects of his classic meditation. We unpack some of the language of the text while making connections to other philosophers. Moreover, we discuss Feuerbach's critique of the image of thought and his work's influence on Deleuze as it pertains to Marx's insights.
