Grateful people have learned to give their ego’s a rest. Gratitude and humility go together. Anyone who bristles at the idea of humility and believes it to be a sign of weakness has trouble with true gratitude to others. Sure, we can all learn to thank people as a social behavior, but it will not warm us inside in the same way sincere gratefulness always does. Finally, it takes true courage to admit a need.
