They say it takes a village to raise a child, but sometimes it takes a village just to make one. The team at Laurel Fertility was a vital part of that village for us. We came to Laurel Fertility for our second attempt at IVF, and I remember feeling anxious as I walked into Dr. Smikle’s office for the first time. It was the height of the COVID pandemic, so I had to attend the appointment alone, which only added to my nerves. But from the moment Dr. Smikle greeted me, I knew we were in good hands. His warmth, compassion, and realistic approach immediately put me at ease. Throughout our cycle ..read more

My wife and I knew we wanted to start a family, but were unsure of where to start.  Our friends who had just given birth to their son, conceived through Laurel Fertility Care and we decided to start there. After our first consultation, we knew we wanted to continue with Laurel Fertility.  They were so very informative of all the options we had and the team was supportive with all of our decisions. My wife and I decided to move forward with an IUI and after two failed attempts, we became pregnant with our daughter Izzy on the third try. Thank you Laurel Fertility Care for helping u ..read more

We had tried to conceive naturally for several years.  After surrendering to the fact that there might be an issue, we began testing for such. We had consulted with two other fertility centers, but Laurel Fertility Center was the one for us. From the start, they were very informative and I never felt pressured into the expensive treatment plans. In the end, we chose to go all in with IVF and got pregnant with our very first transfer. Our family is now complete with our little angel and we could not be happier. Thank you Laurel Fertility Care for all of the blessings that you help bring ..read more

OHSS stands for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. It can occur during fertility treatment, usually when you’re taking medication which – alongside stimulating egg development – may cause your ovaries to swell and leak fluid. OHSS is your body’s response to excess hormone levels. It can be very painful – at best, uncomfortable – and symptoms include abdominal pain, tenderness in the ovaries, nausea, sudden weight gain and extreme bloating. Occasionally, OHSS can occur when taking medication by mouth – such as clomiphene – but it’s more commonly connected to injectable hormone medication ..read more
