The Sacramento Kings drafted Providence guard Devin Carter with the 13th pick in the NBA Draft Wednesday. The 22-year-old Carter is known for his disruptive defensive capabilities and tenacity. Depending on his NBA readiness, the rookie enters a currently crowded Kings backcourt. Carter’s upside on defense is the main reason for his presence in the lottery. Following the pick Kings general manager Monte McNair spoke to media and emphasized his ability on both ends of the floor though. “We try to find tough, physical guys who can play on both ends, make a shot, score the ball, switch, guard gu ..read more

The pick is in. After weeks of speculation, there was no trade, there was no Ron Holland (who went 5th) or Zach Edey (9th), but instead Providence guard Devin Carter, a player known for his intensity and effort on defense.  Carter is the son of former NBA veteran Anthony Carter and played his last two seasons at Providence where he averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks last season in 35.3 minutes per game. He shot 47.3% from the field and 37.7% from three and won the 2023-24 Big East Player of the Year. Kings fans may be wondering about the fit of draf ..read more

How I Talked Myself Into Zach Edey
The Kings Herald » NBA Draft

We’re just hours away from the 2024 NBA Draft, and my research that consists of YouTube breakdowns, old school scouting reports, and dozens of podcasts is nearly complete. I have a confession to make: I like Zach Edey. I’ll never sell myself as a college basketball expert or draft guru, but I know what the Kings are missing, and I think Edey can be legitimately helpful in several of those areas. Edey’s floor as a bench center with Malik Monk is a terrifying combination for opposing defenses. Monk’s pick-and-roll prowess combined with Edey’s size, elite screening, and touch can punish every ben ..read more

Yahoo’s Jake Fischer posted an article with lots of draft-related news and rumors. Definitely worth checking out the whole thing if you’re a draft fanatic. But two notes in particular stood out for Kings fans: Ron Holland worked out for the Kings The Kings have been very secretive with their workouts in the Monte McNair era, much to my chagrin, but Fischer reports that the Kings are one of the teams Ron Holland has met for a workout. With no decisive top prospect, NBA teams have been preparing for all kinds of volatility and movement up and down the draft board, while the players echoed that ..read more
