Every few years, in the sports world, it’s good to look back on past drafts to see the hits and misses. The longshots that became stars and the stars that became duds. 7 years on, the 2016 NBA Draft didn’t have any second round hidden gems, but it did give us some household names. Not to mention the #1 Pick has become one of the more scrutinized players in the league recently. Below, is my own personal redraft of the 2016 NBA Draft Top 10 picks. 1.Philadelphia 76ers- Original Pick: Ben SImmons, LSU. My Pick: Jaylen Brown, F, Cal. This was one of two drafts in a row where the 76ers had the #1 ..read more

Shouout to intern Earl! He’s the best! Anyways, it’s Burnie and Chris episode 28! How are we starting off year two? By talking about the fact that the SEC is turning into more than a super conference. Yes, it’s official that Oklahoma and Texas will be joining the SEC starting in 2025! However, they’re not alone. We break the news that both Clemson and Florida State are now in talks to join the conference! We next slide into baseball where Chris takes a victory lap (for the first time all year.) The Yankees somehow someway got Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo at the trade deadline. What did the Red ..read more

It is yet again another weird year. We are drafting in the end of July for the first time ever. Last year we are drafting in mid-November and now late July. Thankfully we go back to normal next season. For now though we have the same two people from last year here to give you the Couch Guy Sports’ 2021 NBA Mock Draft. Mike Gilligan from Small State Big Takes and Verbally Committed and myself Chris Jones. Just like last year Gilli sent me his and I did not peak. Looking at the new Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay here when it comes to the NBA Draft. We have some similarities this time around, but ..read more

Ranking The Number One Overall Picks In The NBA From The 2010’s

With that NBA Draft slowly creeping up, I thought it was a good time to go over all of the number one overall picks from the 2010s. We had some good players come out of the NBA draft in the past decade, but we also had some stinkers come out as well. With that being said here is my rankings of the number one overall selections in the NBA from the 2010s.   10.) Anthony Bennett (2013) The most iconic thing over Anthony Bennett’s career was the fact that he was the number one overall pick in 2013. Bennett lasted four seasons in the NBA and played for four different teams. He never averaged ..read more

It Is Time To Pay Attention To Cam Thomas

By points per game, the best freshman scoring player in the NCAA is not a stud like Jalen Suggs or versatile big like Evan Mobley. In fact, the guard who leads all freshman in scoring, isn’t even a top 20 recruit. However, he is shooting up draft boards in many circles. Meet Cameron Thomas. (Non) Humble Beginnings Cam Thomas is not some 3 star recruit who went off and lead scoring in a mid major. Although, that can happen. While Cameron was not amongst the highest of highly touted recruits, he does sit #22 in ESPNs rankings. He also is the all time scoring leader at a small school you may have ..read more

Obi Toppin: Meet the Newest Knick

The NBA draft has come and gone and Knicks fans can take a sigh of relief. Unlike previous draft years, the Knicks actually made the right decision with their lottery pick. What I mean by that is they did not go off the board. They took the guy the fans wanted them to. The Knicks selected Dayton Power Forward, Obi Toppin, with the 8th overall pick. What exactly does Toppin bring to the Knicks? Offensive Explosiveness Obi Toppin is considered to be one of the most NBA ready prospects in this year’s draft. The Dayton star is truly an outstanding player on the offensive side of the ball. He is a ..read more

The NBA draft is finally upon us, as is the flurry of trades and rumors!!! This week has seen plenty of moves since the trade-window opened on Monday, but this one hit different. The trade of Horford marks the first big move of NBA draft night. (Sorry to the Knicks who traded up from the 27th to get the 23rd pick from the Jazz, but that didn’t move me much.) WOJ-BOMB: The Sixers are trading Al Horford and a first-round and second-round pick to the Thunder for Danny Green, sources tell ESPN. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) November 18, 2020 The Sixers are sending a lightly-protected 2025 ..read more

Who should be more mad about not drafting Steph Curry: Timberwolves or Knicks?

Obviously, Steph Curry is one of the best players in the NBA right now. We knew he was a hell of a shooter coming out of Davidson, but might not have expected he would be the greatest 3-point shooter of all time. Curry is not just a shooter though. He is an excellent playmaker, excellent passer, and one of the toughest guys to guard. In a re-draft, Curry would absolutely go number 1, but we can’t change where he was drafted. Curry was drafted 7th overall by the Warriors in 2009, right between the Timberwolves and the Knicks. Which of those franchises should be angrier about not drafting Curry ..read more

An NBA 2nd Round Draft Pick Could Shift The 2020 College Basketball Landscape

*ESPN 30 for 30 voice*:  What if I told you… Luka Garza is that domino able to shift the entire 2020 college basketball landscape. You know his name – Garza’s not new to college hoops fans. He’s been a relevant big man for Iowa since 2017-18, his freshman year. But in the recent 2019-20 season without a conclusion, something changed. With Tyler Cook graduated from Iowa, Garza got more touches and shots in the Hawkeye offense. The result? He became a SUPERSTAR. A true BMOC as Dick Vitale would say. The definition of a PTP-er! *Quick translation for anyone who doesn’t speak the language of ..read more
