The 2023 NBA Draft took place less than a week ago, but draft nuts in any sport are a special breed. It’s never too early for them to look ahead toward next year and predict what is going to happen, even though they know damn well that things are going to change significantly between now and then. Most recently, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN took a stab at a way too early 2024 mock draft, and they had the Hawks landing the most popular prospect in the class with the 17th pick — Bronny James. I’m not sure there’s an NBA Draft expert that believes Bronny James will be one of the top pic ..read more

The Hawks have drafted Kobe Bufkin with the 15th overall pick. NBADraftNet compares him to Jordan Poole and has a positive evaluation of him overall: Bufkin came to Michigan as an in-state player who top 50 recruit in the 2021 HS class, but had to wait his turn behind a group of upperclassmen and highly touted Caleb Houston (averaged 3 ppg and 10 mpg) … This season he took advantage of the extended minutes available from the losses in the backcourt; more than quadrupling his scoring output, seeing upward trajectory in efficiency and overall production across the board, and going from a 2023 D ..read more

The NBA Draft is tomorrow night, and the Atlanta Hawks own the 15th overall pick. There is a ton of speculation about whether the club will attempt to trade up from their current selection. The most common rumor among Jake Fischer, Adrian Wojnarowski, and other insiders is the Mavericks’ 10th overall pick. Dallas reportedly wants Clint Capela included in the deal, while Atlanta is reluctant to include the veteran center and instead desires to deal John Collins. Well, if history repeats itself, the Hawks will stand pat at the 15th pick. So, who will be on Landry Fields, Kyle Korver, and Quin Sn ..read more

The 2022 NBA Draft has come and gone. Now it’s time for the offseason, where we tackle free agency, watch the Knicks miss out on a star player, and see which productive player the Kings will inexplicably trade. It’s one of the best times of the year! Let’s grade some winners and losers from what turned out to be a surprisingly interesting draft. Meet Hawks second round pick Tyrese Martin
SportsTalkATL » NBA Draft

I was a big fan of Atlanta’s first round pick AJ Griffin. I didn’t think he would fall to 16, but much like Jalen Johnson in 2021, a Duke product with tons of talent fell right into the lap of Travis Schlenk. However, Atlanta’s second-rounder is worth taking a closer look at as well. Like Griffin, Tyrese Martin comes from a basketball blueblood in UConn and gained a lot of steam in the pre-draft process due to his interviews and testing. Tyrese Martin was lone Big East player selected in this year's NBA Draft. — David Borges (@DaveBorges) June 24, 2022 The Hawks will select UConn’s Tyrese M ..read more
