Our parish, in the care of the Carmelites, joins in solidarity and friendship with the parish of Zumalai in Timor Leste, where the Carmelites also minister. Through financial support, prayer and visits, our community expresses this solidarity and friendship in practical and life-giving ways. Fr Matthew recently returned home with the QLD St Vincent de Paul Young Adults Pilgrimage group from World Youth Day 2023. The pilgrimage included time in Paris exploring, praying and reflecting on the origins of the St Vincent de Paul Society. This was followed by an international gathering of Vincentians in Felgueiras Portugal, before World Youth Day Week celebrations in Lisbon. The Plant and Resources Committee and the Finance Council have been working on repairing the Church Roof Skylights for some time. The Roof Skylights have leaked since the Church was first built.  In the intervening period, the roof skylights have been repaired a number of times but each time retaining the original design. The last time the skylights were repaired, was in 2014. In recent rains, water penetrating the skylights, has damaged the Church ceiling and a claim has been lodged with CCI but the source of the leaks must be repaired before the consequential damage to the ceiling ..read more
