Background Given the interest around the use of stem cells in ALS, the ENCALS neurologists from across Europe have reviewed the published evidence around the Brainstorm Therapeutics treatment, NurOwn (debamestrocel), and discussed this at a meeting on 13 July 2023. On 10 December 2021, Brainstorm Therapeutics published the results of their Phase 3 clinical trial. It is with great sadness that we have to report the loss of our dear colleague Dr. Ettore Beghi after an incurable and long-term disease.  We will remember him for his collaborating attitude and commitment, his friendship, a humble guide and he was always keen on sharing his knowledge, expertise and wisdom with everybody he met. From June 1st until the 3rd 2022, more than 650 people from 22 different countries came together in Edinburgh – Scotland to participate in the ENCALS meeting 2022. The first meeting that was live again after COVID. McEwan Hall – venue of the ENCALS meeting 2022 With 52 platform presentations and 234 posters the meeting was a huge success. ENCALS provides a max. of 5 travel grants for young qualified researchers to attend the ENCALS meeting 1-3rd June 2022 in Edinburgh. The aim is to encourage participants from underrepresented countries. The travel grant amount is up to a maximum of 500 Euros, based on actual travel expenses. Almost 200 posters were displayed in the virtual Poster Gallery during the meeting. All attendees could vote and nominate their favorite poster for an ENCALS Poster Award. Many young PhD students and post docs presented their research at the virtual ENCALS meeting, 12-14 May 2021. The aim of the ENCALS meeting is to allow young researchers for exchange of ideas with peers and with top international investigators.
