Time for some sad news. This week BricktasticBlog was removed from the LEGO Ambassador Network. After 6 years of recognition, LEGO made the decision that the site wasn’t meeting the minimum threshold for support (something that existed unbeknownst to me), so decided to revoke my recognition without warning. While my time as an Ambassador has been great, the sudden exit has changed a few things for me, so I’ll be putting BricktasticBlog on hiatus for a while. With almost 500 reviews over the 8 years of the site, and 1200 posts, it’s time to have a rest and re-evaluate some things. I’ll be able ..read more

It’s been a fantastic decade of Friends sets. Amazing colours, new parts and plenty of story, but after 10 years, LEGO has decided to shake it up and bring in a new bunch of Friends. There’s eight of them, and is a more diverse, inclusive and apparently more relatable group. It’s goodbye to Emma, Stephanie, Mia, Olivia and Andrea (for now), and hello to the new crew – Aliya, Autumn, Leo, Zac, Liann, Olly, Paisley and Nova! There’s also a brand new logo and some new sets to come in 2023. Here’s a brief introduction to the new Friends, plus a longer one down below. Aliya Aliya read her first ..read more

Theme: LEGO Ideas No: 21336 Release Year: 2022 Cost: AU $179.99US $119.99 Pieces: 1164 (with 15 minifigures) LEGO have done some great popular TV set products (couldn’t say sets twice!) in recent years, and the latest one is another fan favourite. The US version of The Office is well known and well loved across the world. Full of classic moments from Steve Carell and the crew, it’s cringey and awkward and hilarious. I’ve watched the entire series so I was pretty excited to get stuck into this set! The instructions include the regular assortment of snippets and facts about the show, the fan de ..read more

A couple of days ago images circulated of the new 76210 Hulkbuster set. Now we’ve got the official images and details! This simply enormous set has 4049 pieces, releasing November 4th for VIPs and November 9th for general sale. The set will cost US $549.99 / DE €549.99 / UK £474.99 / AU $849.99. It’s a little strange that they’re releasing another Hulkbuster seven years after the movie was released. Granted, it’s a lot bigger than the last version – 76105 back in 2018 – almost four times the parts, and over twice as tall. It’s also expensive. Crazy ex ..read more

Not long ago LEGO sent me a copy of the October gift with purchase set – 40562 Mystic Witch, and it’s a beauty! It’ll be around from October 14 to 31st, perfect for all your Halloween goodness. You’ll need to spend AU $165 / US $100 on LEGO’s online store and if you spend those hard earned pennies between October 14th and 16th, you’ll get the Double VIP Points deal as well. When I got it in the mail I thought it was a regular set, as it’s a Creator 3-in-1, but it’s definitely a GWP. Weighing in at 257 pieces, it’s a good deal! There’s the eponymous Mystic Witch, plus a cat or a dragon as alte ..read more

Theme: Creator Expert No: 10255 Release Year: 2017 Cost: AU $449.99US $299.99 Pieces: 4002 (with nine minifigures) To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of LEGO this year, I’ve decided to do something a little different and review an old favourite Modular – 10255 Assembly Square, from way back in 2017! It’s the big one – still the only modular released that’s another half a baseplate bigger again, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the theme.
