How to determine the minimum thickness for a Red Dot Sight mount built in aluminum?

Hi everyone! I'm designing what is called a "Red Dot Sight Mount" (see image below) for a handgun. Disclaimer: this kind of part is not regulated (at least not in any country that I can think of) and does not modify the functioning of the gun in any way (it's just a part that holds an electronical sight on top of the firearm), that's why I'm attempting to build this even if I have no experience in mechanical engineering. This is what it looks like (this is one from a random manufacturer): My question is: what should be the minimum thickness of the top part (the part with a red line on the pict ..read more

Jonathan Beaudeau and Pareto Frontier are scams

This message is to inform people about a scam called Pareto Frontier. The man behind Pareto Frontier is con man Jonathan Beaudeau. Pareto Frontier offers "consulting" to engineering companies, but it is really a scam where they give useless information. Conman Jonathan Beaudeau claims to be a "doctor" but he is not. In reality, Beaudeau did not even graduate from college. He was a disgraced engineer formerly at BAE systems. Jonathan Beaudeau was removed from the office for misbehavior. This is a website to inform people about the Pareto Frontier scam: https://sexistparetofrontier.blogspot.com ..read more

Choosing the materials to be used from a variety of materials is a job restricted by many factors. Therefore, how to choose the materials of parts is an important part of parts design. The principle of choosing mechanical parts materials is: the required materials should meet the use requirements of the parts and have good processability and economy. 1. Use requirements The use requirements of mechanical parts are as follows: A. The working conditions and loading conditions of the parts and the requirements for avoiding the corresponding failure modes. The working condition refers to the envir ..read more

The machining error reflects the level of machining accuracy. For mechanical processing plants, to ensure the quality of the product, the first thing to do is to control the error in the processing. So, what are the common machining errors in actual production? Let’s take a look at it in detail. 1. Manufacturing error of machine The manufacturing error of the machine mainly includes the spindle rotation error, the guide rail error and the transmission chain error. The spindle rotation error refers to the variation of the actual rotation axis of the spindle at each moment relative to its averag ..read more
