Canvas Conversations: Janet Blyberg
Greystone Needlepoint

Janet Blyberg (JCB Stitches) learned to needlepoint as a child, watching her grandmother, great aunts, and great-grandmother stitch. Her first projects were unfinished pieces that her great grandmother left behind when she passed away at the age of 98.  Needlepoint took a back seat to high school, college, and brief affairs with cross stitch and knitting, but in her 20s she took it up again in earnest as a way to occupy her time while traveling for work. She has been stitching for more than 30 years, but only recently began designing needlepoint herself.  Janet lives in Maine with h ..read more

Frances Abel just *knew* that she was meant to be a needlepointer.  Her grandmother needlepointed a full set of dining chairs and many other things, but it took until 2020 for Frances to get started.  In London, and with the pandemic slowing down mail across the Atlantic, she began designing and painting her own canvases.   Frances’s designs focus on the joy of everyday life.  She celebrates her children’s milestones, family vacations and their adventures in London and beyond.  Living down the road from the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, there is serious tennis love ..read more
