A new, sixth-generation Renault Clio is coming in 2026, offering both hybrid and electric options to cater to young families seeking an electrified hatchback.
Ditching the retro vibes of the R5 and Twingo, the new Clio will embrace a contemporary design language inspired by Renault’s latest models.
The Clio will be Renault’s only internal combustion engine (ICE) powered hatchback in the future, differentiating itself from the electric-only Twingo, R5, and Megane models.
The all-new R5 E-Tech Electric might be the coolest member of Renault’s lineup, but it’s not intended to replace the sim ..read more

Both Renault and Volvo Group have 45 percent stakes in Flexis, while a French freight company controls the remaining 10 percent.

Renault plans to extract and recycle lithium and other materials from used electric vehicle batteries. If it achieves its aim, it will be the first European manufacturer to recycle batteries on a large scale.
The chief executive of Renault’s environment unit The Future is Neutral (TFIN) Jean-Philippe Bahuaud revealed in an interview in Paris that the carmaker is in “advanced” discussions with specialist companies for battery material recycling.
“In Europe, there is currently… nobody who can claim to recycle used batteries in a closed-loop to reproduce nickel, cobalt and lithium to make new ..read more

More than a quarter of a century after the first retro boom that gave us cars like the Mini, Beetle and, er, Chrysler Crossfire, Renault is about to unveil the reinvention of some icons from its own back catalog.
Last month at the Geneva Motor Show, Renault pulled the covers off its new 5, a modern electric hatch that owes a major design debt to the 1970s original. But threatening to steal the 5’s thunder are the images you see on this page, our second encounter with its big brother, the equally-retro 4.
Essentially a production version of 2022’s 4Ever Trophy concept, the new 4 is a crossove ..read more

Renault has revealed that it has a waiting list of 50,000 people for the all-electric 5 E-Tech and plans to begin customer deliveries in September or October.
The compelling new EV will hit the market from around €25,000 (~$27,000), undercutting much of the competition. It takes design inspiration from the original Renault 5 and is the firm’s first ground-up small EV since the Zoe launched a decade ago. While most have yet to see it in person, let alone drive it, it is apparently proving popular.
“We have a waiting list of 50,000 people,” Renault brand chief executive Fabrice Cambolive told ..read more

Renault will continue to have internal combustion engines in its range for the next decade, as it hopes to offer consumers a separate lineup of EVs. The “two-leg” strategy was revealed by brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive. The approach hopes to allow the automaker to react to market trends following a slowdown in EV adoption.
Unlike others, Renault has been relatively cautious in announcing their EV ambitions. In 2022, group CEO Luca de Meo predicted that Renault’s European lineup would consist solely of EVs by the end of the decade, but added a caveat that it would ultimately depend on market con ..read more

Renault’s CEO, Luca de Meo, has urged European automakers to unite and form an Airbus-style conglomerate to manufacture affordable electric vehicles capable of competing with Chinese imports entering the continent.
Airbus came together in 2000 as a joint venture between European aerospace companies. It is supported by European governments, and the companies came together to compete against large American companies, like Boeing.
According to de Meo, European automakers need to do something similar to compete with the growing influx of affordable electric vehicles from China, which has emerged ..read more

Surprise! The production version of the new Renault 5 has been revealed early, with official photos surfacing online on a number of social media channels just before its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on February 26th.
Few details remained under wraps for the reborn subcompact hatch, poised to rival the electric Mini Cooper. Patent images from the World Intellectual Property Organization had already provided a fairly good idea of how the all-electric R5 has transitioned from concept to reality.
The production iteration of the new Renault 5 remains loyal to its conceptual sibling from 2 ..read more
