Segment 2 of Anxiety
Living Differently with ADHD
by Emily Smit
3y ago
This episode focuses on different coping skills to deal with anxiety on a day to day basis, most of them given to me by my therapist. It also talks about breaking the stigma for mental health illnesses and normalizing that people struggle and need help just like breaking a leg or having cancer. Medical attention for the brain (mental disabilities) is just as important as the rest of the body, if not more.  Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/livingdifferentlypodcast ..read more

In this episode I talk about times in my life where I have asked myself "What's the point?" It is time to change my mindset and look at challenges in life differently and have positive outlook on life. I also talked about how I have boundaries I need in my life due to my ADHD and being an empath. Lastly, the episode ends by talking about how difficult it is to advocate for yourself and the troubles I have had doing so.  Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/livingdifferentlypodcast ..read more

Two symptoms that have a huge effect on a person with ADHD are emotional disregulation and rejection sensitivity. These are things that people with other mental health disorders experience as well. This episode talks about what these two terms mean and how it affects my life, specifically with having ADHD. I also mention in the episode how I know most episodes have been about ADHD lately but this is what I am still learning as of recent as my diagnosis was just this year.
