Channel Islands Surfboards was created by Al and Terry Merrick in 1969. From his birth, Britt spent his days in the factory by the beach in Santa Barbara, from toddling around blanks to sweeping out shaping rooms. In this premiere episode of 2 to 20: with Cliff Kapono, our host walks viewers through his experience on riding the Happy Traveler, a versatile step-up board designed by Britt Merrick that addresses the needs for an all-in-one travel board.
Whether at home or traveling abroad, we need equipment that will match the demands of the conditions. We typically feel good about what to pull out of the bag when it’s small-to-average sized surf, because for most of us that’s our daily reality. But when it gets bigger, to a lot bigger, we’re not always prepared and can feel caught off guard. That’s why y ..read more

We’re stoked to announce that our all-new Twin Pin model is now ready to ride—available at a surf shop near you or cisurfboards.com.
This beauty of a board is the result of an epic collaboration with one of the world’s most stylish surfers @mikeyfebruary and our lead Shaper and Designer Britt Merrick. They worked on this versatile twin-finned pintail for over two years, with the goal of creating a board that had all the fun twin feels but enough hold and projection to free you from ever wishing for a third fin or trailer. Designed as an all-rounder, it helps you rip in anything from the ..read more

In last year’s Stab Surfer of the Year poll, they asked 50 of surfing’s most influential figures who they believed were the most impactful surfers of 2020.
While Hawaiian teen Luke Swanson finished 10 votes shy of eventual junior winner Jai Glindeman, Luke’s referrals came from elite company. Specifically, from the first and fifth finishing surfers, John Florence and Mason Ho.
“I’ve known Luke for a long time. When he first started popping up, he was like 10 or 11 and had really good form—one of those rare groms with like nice form, not really trying airs too early, learning ..read more

From an article featured in Stab: “Spending one month with Reef Heazlewood doesn’t seem too bad. Unless you’re the deck of his surfboard, in that case, you’d be in excruciating pain. There is no chance Heazlewood has paddled in from a session without 50 new pressure dings on his board.”
Seriously, the height at 1:00 is ridiculous, and I’m positive 1:30 is computer-generated.
Reef Heazlewood missed the 2020 season due to a shoulder injury. He is doing well this year, earning himself the #2 spot on the WQS, which included a win. There is, however, another contest we’d also love to s ..read more

Exponential happiness is here.
Two Happy, a performance shortboard model created by Britt Merrick, is the result of working with Dane Reynolds, Parker Coffin, Mikey February and more. Two Happy takes all the speed, flow and maneuverability of the original Happy but makes it more accessible and user friendly for a broader range of surfers and conditions.
With added entry rocker and increased double concave, the Two Happy is looser, rolls rail to rail more easily, and carves better in the pocket.
Our team describes the board as exceptionally fast, responsive, and unde ..read more
