Is History Repeating Itself?

The Jews were facing rising antisemitism all over the world.  The forces of evil held tremendous sway over the sentiment on the street, media, educational campuses and even the leadership of the world superpower. Many Jews were intimidated and lowered their heads, hid their identity, or bowed down to the antisemites in fear and trepidation, in the vein hope that somehow this would make them fit in and be likable. Many even attended events in which they themselves, the Jewish people, were denigrated, made fun of, and had their religious symbols mocked in public.  P ..read more

Friday, February 16, 2024 - 3:55 PM Thank you to the huge crowd who showed up last night to hear Daniel & Neria Sharabi, two survivors and heroes from the Nova Festival, who fought back and held off the terrorists for five hours, while giving life saving medical treatment to wounded, and who ultimately helped save dozens of people on Oct 7th. Hearing from people who ran back into the fray and for hours teetered between being killed and continuing to save so many, was mind blowing. They spoke of their friends who were murdered before their eyes, and of their very close friend Yosef Ohana (Y ..read more

Friday, December 22, 2023 - 8:05 AM Did you shed tears since Oct 7th? How many tears I have only seen and heard over the last few months....  and not all of the tears were the tears of others.... Painful situations, cause us grief and bring emotions that can overwhelm us, and we cry in pain and in grief. Sometimes, it is the opposite and it is joy that causes us to cry as we shed tears of joy from an uplifting and powerful moment. I remember when we told our four oldest children that they were going to have a new sibling, and some of them cried tears of joy, as their faces ..read more

What is your name?

Friday, January 5, 2024 - 11:01 AM Not necessarily your legal name, but your Hebrew name. Does it matter and is it even important to have a Hebrew name, after all my legal name is good enough, why make things more confusing? Yet the truth is, names matter, and Hebrew names certainly matter. As a people, we are referred to with different names, sometimes we are called the children of Israel, referencing the fact that we are descendants of Jacob, who had his name changed to Israel, and sometimes we are referred to as Yehudim, Jews, or Yidden in Yiddish, which all come from the name Jud ..read more

Yesterday I visited a business whose services I use from time to time, which I hadn't visited in at least three months. When I entered their first words were "how are you and your family doing during these challenging times and how are your loved ones and friends in Israel all doing"? I started talking to them and we ended up speaking for less than five minutes, and then I looked at all three of these people, two women and one man of different backgrounds, and they all had tears in their eyes and they were all crying as I was speaking and telling them what had been happening. The Irony of Accusing Israel of Genocide

So South Africa which has one of the highest murder and corruption rates in the world, and which includes almost 30,000 murdered victims just in the last twelve months, is the claimant against Israel, accusing it of Genocide.  Indeed the age old tactic of diverting your own problems with hatred against Jews.... As far as the actual accusation is concerned, Richard Kemp the former NATO commander in Afghanistan and so many others have said, there is no country in the world who fights as humanely as Israel, and who puts in so much effort and risk to avoid harming civilians, even wh ..read more

Friday, January 19, 2024 - 12:50 PM Yakir & David were two study partners at a Yeshiva in Gush Etzion, who were reservists in the IDF, who were killed together in combat last week. In a Podcast Lecture I was listening to, the speaker shared how he studied each day with Yakir Dexter's father, and had himself sat with Yakir for several hours just days before, to understand the dynamics of the moral and Halachic dynamics and challenges that the soldiers are coming across during this difficult battle. The speaker described the unusual close relationship that these two friends had with eac ..read more
