Ripudaman Singh Malik, the man who was previously acquitted in the 1985 Air India bombings, was fatally shot in Surrey, British Columbia, in Canada on Thursday morning. Shortly after the attack, a vehicle that is believed to belong to the suspect was found engulfed in fire a few blocks away from the scene. Madeline Barker, the 47-year-old woman accused of hurling xenophobic comments and pepper-spraying a group of four Asian women in Chelsea last month, was indicted on 12 hate crime charges on Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court. The 48-year-old armed man who allegedly threatened to kill the U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D, WA-07) outside her Seattle home was released from jail after prosecutors failed to file the hate crime charges in time.
