She has worked as a doctor in a teenage detention centre as well as Wormwood Scrubs and currently works at Bronzefield, the largest women-only prison in Europe.
She has previously written two books about her time as a prison doctor, 2019's 'The Prison Doctor' and 2020's 'The Prison Doctor: Women Inside'.

On November 19, 2020, partners Jake Notman and Lauren Bloomer celebrated the release of the ninth generation video game console, the PlayStation 5.
In preparation, Jake had purchased an edible brownie which they both ate shortly before bed.
Jake, however, had a terrible trip, and in the early hours of November 20, 2020, he violently attacked and killed Lauren.
Lauren recorded the entire attack on her phone.
Jake Notman was found guilty of unlawful manslaughter and sentenced to 8 years and eight months im ..read more

In this remarkable episode of British Murders, I welcome former British soldier and police officer Shay Doyle to the show.
Shay's police career spanned 17 years, and he was one of the UK's chosen few Level 1 undercover operatives.
Posing as a professional criminal, he came face to face with some of Britain's most dangerous gangsters and was part of a hand-picked team chosen to hunt down the now-convicted murderer Dale Cregan.
After being medically discharged from the police in 2020, Shay is now a mental health advocate working alongside professionals and organisations to tackle the stigma ..read more

In the ninth episode of British Murders, I tell the story of English serial killer Robert Maudsley aka "The Brain Eater".
Robert Maudsley murdered a total of four men between 1974-1978.
He is one of only a few murderers who became serial killers whilst in prison.
Robert has spent over 40 years in solitary confinement, and his custom-built cell is similar to that of Hannibal Lecter in Thomas Harris' novel 'The Silence of the Lambs'.
He is known as Britain's most dangerous prisoner.

In the eighth episode of British Murders, I tell the story of English serial child killer Amelia Dyer.
Amelia Dyer is suspected of murdering more than 400 infants between 1880-1896; however, only six deaths were attributed to her.
She received the death penalty and was hanged in June 1896.
Amelia practised baby farming, a standard method of earning a living in late-Victorian Era Britain.

In the fifth episode of British Murders Season 5, I tell the story of Christopher Farrow.
On March 15, 1994, 33-year-old Christopher tricked his way into the home of 51-year-old divorcee Wendy Speakes in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Christopher sexually assaulted Wendy before stabbing her a total of 9 times, killing her.
A shoe fetishist, Christopher forced Wendy to wear a pair of blue mule shoes that he'd purchased from a local charity shop a few days earlier and placed a pair of Wendy's black stiletto's on her bedside table whilst he carried out the attack.
The case remained unsolved fo ..read more

In the fourth episode of British Murders Season 5, I tell the story of Welsh child murderer Harold Jones.
In June 1921, 15-year-old Harold was acquitted of murdering 8-year-old schoolgirl Freda Burnell.
Two weeks after being released from custody, Harold murdered 11-year-old schoolgirl Florence Little.
He served 20 years in prison after confessing to both murders and was released in 1941 at the age of 35.
Some believe Harold Jones was responsible for committing the ‘Jack the Stripper' murders in the 1960s.
He died of bone cancer in January 1971.

In the third volume of Killer British Murder Stories, I discuss the case of The Chicago Tylenol Murders with Bobbie Holmes of Killer Stories.
The Chicago Tylenol murders were a series of poisoning deaths resulting from drug tampering in the Chicago metropolitan area in 1982.
The victims had all taken Tylenol-branded acetaminophen capsules that had been laced with potassium cyanide.
A total of seven people died in the original poisonings, with several more deaths in subsequent copycat crimes, and no suspect was ever charged or convicted of the poisonings.
This is the second of two collabora ..read more
