Shark sighting at beach in Point Lookout

LONG ISLAND -(77WABC-) There’s been another shark sighting on Long Island.  A lifeguard said swimmers were temporarily kept out of the water after two sharks were spotted in the water off Nickerson Beach in Point Lookout around  midday on Friday. Officials say the beach’s shark jet ski unit will be patrolling the area ,and there will be additional lifeguards in the water this weekend. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. says it will give Ukraine 15 Scan Eagle surveillance drones, 40 mine-resistant vehicles, 2,000 anti-armor rounds and howitzer weapons to help Ukrainian forces regain territory and mount a counter-offensive against Russian invaders. A senior defense official says the new $775 million aid package will help Ukraine troops move forward in the south and east, where Russian forces have placed mines. NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart, the nation’s largest employer, is expanding its abortion coverage for employees after staying largely mum on the issue for months following the Supreme Court ruling that scrapped a nationwide right to abortion. (AP) — A British man nicknamed one of the Beatles by his captives because of his English accent has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the deaths of four U.S. hostages captured by the Islamic State. LONDON (AP) — The European Medicines Agency said a smaller dose of the monkeypox vaccine appears to still be effective and can be used to stretch the current supply by five times, echoing a recommendation made earlier this month by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
