Atlético Madrid have moved ahead of Juventus in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté. The 31 year old is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and does not likely to be offered a new deal in the light of his recent injury problems. He has missed the last six months with a hamstring problem, that also ruled him out of France’s World Cup squad. The club are hoping that he may be fit enough to return for their Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund next week, but, having broken the British transfer record to sign a ready made replacement in the form of Enz ..read more

The 20-year old French international was signed by the Spanish champions from Rennes in 2021 for £26 million, but he has struggled for minutes this season. Chelsea are reported to be keen on Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, currently playing for Real Sociedad, one of the surprise packages in La Liga this season. The Blues are aware that they may lose both Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté next summer. Both are out of contract at the end of the season, and both have been linked with moves away – Jorginho with a return to Italy, and Kanté with a switch to Barcelona. That potentially leaves them exposed in defensive midfield, and Zubimendi is a potential solution to their problem. The 23-year old came through the academy system at Sociedad, making his ..read more
