Hello folks! We thought we would share a few articles with you regarding sending your child to camp.  Whether it’s the first time or not, it’s important we get our campers into the right mindset to attend camp, especially during the midst of what we hope is the tailend of this pandemic. Remember, this summer we have both day and overnight options when you choose a session.  We will cater your child’s experience around what you need. See below for some links: Messages for an Anxious Camper “Here are some messages you can give prior to dropping your camper at the bus or at camp. Pick a ..read more

Looking to 2022

As we wrap up 2021, which has felt like a roller coaster ride that derailed at times, we can’t help but be optimistic about what lays ahead. There is a meme going around pointing out that 2022 sounds like 2020 too.  If you turn to American Sign Language and translate the handshapes into 2022 it seems to say bird, peace, peace.  Here at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, we have decided to adapt the bird of peace for 2022, just as we adapted the iconic phoenix on our grounds as the bird for 2020-2021. It’s because of our volunteers, our boards, our families, our campers and countless other souls that ..read more

Since March 2020 it has been difficult, frustrating, and exhausting. However, there is something life-giving about planning our summer camp program and respite camp programs. For me, as we prepare to send our message out in hopefulness for the 2021 summer season, it reminds me why we do this work. While it still feels uncertain and scary at times, the staff, campers, parents, board and community continue to give me the strength and the wisdom to endure, finding the messages that need to be delivered so we can gather around the campfire and be together once again. We know camp is a catalyst for ..read more

It’s #GivingTuesday! Visit the Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck website at https://camppaquatuck.com/donate/ to make a contribution today that will be matched! As we approach the end of a year unlike any other, we are pleased to share an incredible opportunity that has been offered to the Camp. A generous donor has stepped forward and awarded the Camp a $50,000 matching grant. This means that any gifts received between now and December 31st will be matched up to $50,000, doubling the impact of each gift and resulting in a potential total of $100,000 for the Camp. Due to the current state of events, we are unable to run in person programming this summer at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.  We are all crushed and heartbroken that we will not be able to implement all the plans we have worked so hard for since the end of last summer. We know you were looking forward to coming back to camp and this wasn’t a decision that was made lightly.  The state and the Department of Health have not given us the go ahead to have camp and we do not feel confident that we can keep everyone safe should we come together.  All of these unknowns weigh very heavily on us ..read more

Whatever you want to call these times, one thing that is apparent for all of us is that we are in this together, we are an amazing community. Just like you, someone is alone in their home with no family and hoping we get to be with them again soon. Just like you, your patience is being tested with your children and loved ones. Just like you, we feel scared when we go out food shopping and have to wear a mask. Just like you, we struggle to explain what’s going on and to digest for ourselves what to do and how to think. Just like you, we are still working. Just like you, we are reaching out to ..read more

To our camp community; Throughout these uncertain times, you and your family have been on my mind, and I hope you are all safe and well. As many of you know I walk the grounds here at the camp several times a day with Spencer (our camp pup).  Each day I remind myself of something to be thankful for and each day I acknowledge how grateful I am to be working and living among all of you. I have held off communicating with you so that you can focus on your family during this unusual time. I am in awe of the energy and enthusiasm that teachers and service providers everywhere have shown as the ..read more
