← Previous: A foul wind blows   September 18th 2020 : Interim treatment Back home with Still no genetic results.  Neighbor was kind enough to make the house safe.  We have electricity and running water. I'm of no help whatsoever.  I have so much cancer it's just hard to understand how it got this bad so quick.  Carboplatin and Taxol CarboTax is a  catch all lung cancer treatment.  I keep wondering is it going to get me to Christmas.  I can't see my tumors growing so I guess it's slowed them down.  I so don't want a tracheotomy. Hopefully they find ..read more

<-- Previous: Mind blown September 8th 2020 A Foul Wind blows  Well so much for a simple outpatient procedure.  7 plus days in the ICU I'm going home without the chemo port and have a PICC line instead. I hate these things and we have to go back weekly to get it cleaned, flushed and dressing changed.  It can't get wet and you have to keep it wrapped or it catches on everything. They say it's temporary and they're going to wait to see what my immune systems does.  Um you just pumped me fool of chemo, how do you think my immune system is going to react?   Still no gen ..read more

The on duty Oncologist discuss’ the days events. Apparently I'd already been the talk of the town.  He tells me that while it's true no one has ever seen a tumor grow as fast as mine, he's seen many grow fast. An the fast growing ones if they respond, they then to respond just as  fast. I'm hoping it responds because I do not want a tracheotomy! At sun up they took  out the two lar ..read more

July 29th 2020  the real end of normal. The pandemic is on us. The new normal is not too bad.  Spending  a lot of time working on the yard.  It's actually made life a little easier.  They now get all my stuff and load it in my truck for me.    l I built this Japanese bridge. Take a break and pull up some pompous grass before calling it a day.  Well the pompous grass is hiding a nest of yellow jackets and they're real mad at me destroying their abode and hundreds let me know up close and personal.  I'm allergic to any venom and I guess wasps too ..read more

All I think I had stopped posting before this happened (on advice from a lawyer) but it might be interesting for some of y'all  I was sitting in my OSU recliner in late 21 and had an epiphany. I could stay in that fine recliner, get fat, and just wait or I could do something different. When I say I...my wife is included. So we sat down and developed a bucket list. It included a bunch of stuff we both desired. First sell our much to big (with the boys gone) house. Buy my most desired car (CT6-V. Check it out if you like cars) and travel. We decided on starting with a cruise to Alaska to se ..read more

This is the outcome of my diagnosis and surgery that I talked a bit about in my newcomer's post. Oddly enough, the right thoracoscopic lower lobectomy and mediastinal lymphadenectomy was the easy part... I had surgery on Monday and was released from the hospital on Tuesday. There was some confusion prior to my release Tuesday morning regarding my chest tube because it bubbled like crazy every time I coughed. After five nurses looked at it, a sixth nurse came in with a student and rather arbitrarily pulled the tube and stitched me up. Shortly after this happened, however, the thoracic surgeon's ..read more

I had my right lower lobe removed 15 months ago.  For 6 months after I was not good. I had fluid removed from the lung 3 times. I had robotic surgery, and they got the cancer. I was stage one, non small cell lung cancer.   Recovery the surgeon told me could take a couple of weeks or months. My breathing and getting out of breath happens often, even now, 15 months after surgery.  I feel pressure always on my right side, and feel like an air bubble moves up and down on that side. Very strange feeling, I’m not in pain but I always feel something going on in that area.   I have ..read more
