Hey Folks,
It’s a busy (and costly!) time of year! We thought we’d share some of the cool things and tools (and practical stuff, too!) we use at Forest School on a semi-regular basis in case you need some stocking stuffers – and all for $20ish or less! Whenever possible, please support local!!!
TOOLS:
Light My Fire FireSteel Bio Scout
At FNS, we build a lot of fires and this tool here is a fun, fairly simple way to do that. This is our favourite one to use! Check it out (MEC has the best price, around $15)
Carving Knife
For our older students, we regularly use this Mo ..read more

There have no doubt been a lot of changes since our last blog – when we were gathering sap from the Maples and eating syrup along with campfire pancakes (feels like forever ago!) . We are seeing more than ever now the need for Nature-rooted programs and connection with self and others.
And we had an incredible first week! It was full of discovery, learning and, best of all, fun. It was all about reconnecting with old friends and forging bonds with new ones. We told stories and sha ..read more

Hey Folks!
We finished off our Winter Session with an awesome week full of fun! With the quick snow melt and warm weather, our little river is raging and constantly changing. Students had so much fun in and around it this week from setting up dams that beavers would be envious of to carving out a course and getting out the tools to create boats for an epic race, and as the perfect backdrop for other stories and play. And while we had the inevitable soakers, it was totally worth it for the fun!
We also dove deeper into the Maple Syrup process as we collected the sap from ..read more
