In January 2024 I got to have a wintery adventure trying mountain snowshoeing for the first time with my sister at the beautiful mountain Le Semnoz in the French Alps. Here is how I found it. It's my birthday in January and I thought what better present to myself than to go and take part in the craziest, coldest stand up paddle race in the world?! I was so excited to go to Kendal Mountain Festival. Billed as the ultimate social gathering for all those who love the outdoors – Kendal Mountain Festival takes place at the gateway to The Lake District National Park each November. Want to try a new sport or activity? Try some of these unusual sports, from blobbing to cannonballing! 1 Blobbing What is it? This sport starts with one person - the 'blobber' - sat on a giant inflatable bag in AREA 47's lake, located beneath a three metre tall platform. A second person jumps from the platform down onto one side of the bag, propelling the blobber up to 19 metres high in the air, and down into the water below.
