monday night i burnt my hand pulling a spring form cake pan out of the oven. it blistered instantly and ive been rotating between a bandaid & neosporin and no bandaid to air it out. yesterday i ended up popping it because it was so painful and full. since then ive kept it in bandaid with neosporin. is this healing okay? it feels much better now that its popped but im really worried about it getting infected submitted by /u/theneighborhoodheaux [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey everyone, I fell off my bike just over a week ago but my shoulder is all scabbed over… but do i need to worry about the pink around the scab? It’s not warm nor is it quite red and i’ve kept it covered/neosporin etc. Any opinions? I just hope it’s not infected submitted by /u/Ahsokasimp2021 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Building a first aid kit for my utv which will be used in very off grid areas, many of which could be 30+ minutes to a road. While I’d like to have a full size, very deep first aid kit, I’m limited to what can fit in the bed and rack, along with food, drinks, recovery gear and tools. Here’s what I have so far, any glaring misses, or what else would you add? Assorted band aids 2, 3, and 4 inch gauze pads Tape Rolled gauze Butterfly closures Trauma Shears Tweezers Gloves Vaseline Hydrocortisone cream Advil and aspirin Assorted tegaderm dressings Triangular bandage Thanks in advance for your t ..read more

Does dry leaf in cigarette actually able to stop bleeding from small cut?

Usually, when I got myself some small cut like that, I'd find clean water to wash first. Then, I use h2o2 or soap to prevent bacteria and put bandage on. A couple year ago, my mom got herself a small cut on her hand while cooking. I saw her use leaf from cigarette and put it on her wound. I asked and she said it can stop bleeding. Is it true? submitted by /u/mono1472 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How to deal with Carotid artery laceration

Hello all. I'm a reserve soldier with 'some' experience of battlefield first aid. Thankfully I've never needed to use any of these 'BCD skills' (Battle Casualty Drill) as part of my reserve service, however I witnessed a serious injury resulting in death a few years ago, and would like to canvass opinions and experience. A number of years ago I was outside a nightclub in the UK city of Derby at around 4am, when someone was targeted by some thugs, and stabbed in the left side of their neck. They hit the deck immediately and began a serious arterial bleed from their left carotid artery. The blo ..read more
