stage 4 prostate cancer with a tumor pressing on his spinal canal causing paralysis. He is not tech savvy, I finally got him to trade in his flip phone for a smart phone this year and taught him how to access news articles for reading, so that’s something. He has been in a hospital bed since March 14 unable to use his phone, just watching whatever is on the tv in front of him. He told me he feels like a prisoner. Can I get some advice from those more experienced than we are? What can I do to help him have more freedom & ability to get out of his own head? Being left with nothing but your ..read more

Does anyone know a discrete toy that could be passed off as in every day object. I’m living at home with my family and I’m looking for something secret so they don’t know what I’m using. submitted by /u/DangerousAcadia4667 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Bowel program using abs

Does anyone else just poop by pushing it out using your abs? Like squeezing your abs or whatever. My mentor who has a T12 incomplete uses his abs to use the bathroom for both bowel and bladder and tells me he gets roughly the same amount out as he used to before his injury. Im a little jealous and wondering if anyone else here can do that as well? Also wouldnt there be accidents when you squeeze your core, when trying to move your body around and then you accidentally get something out? submitted by /u/youngwooki23 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship, and she wants me to come see her in Texas over the summer for a month. What should I bring for bowel and bladder stuff? Im a T9 paraplegic complete. I do digi stim for bowels, but itll be embarrassing to bring the toilel chair to her parents house. Should I just rent out a place for a month? Is there a more portable toilet seat I can bring? What about workout things to keep my legs in good condition? Is there anything necessary that I should have? And for bladder I do Intermittent Catheter the one that goes into the bag. Is that okay? I ..read more

Coping with pain (cauda equina)

I'm an L5-S1 recovering paraplegic diagnosed with arachnoiditis and cauda equina. I don't know which of these things, if not multiple of them, are causing the pain I'm about to mention but I'm curious if anyone else experiences anything similar. I've regained bladder and bowel control almost 100%, I just still have to be cautious and timely or risk disaster. When I'm using the restroom and have to bear down even slightly, I get burning and searing pain in my feet especially the bottom of my left foot (side the vertebrae extruded, and the side I still have no control of). It can be unbearable ..read more

Do you think there ever will be a better cure to help disk regrow in the foreseeable future. Besides a surgery like disk replacement. I have a significant herniation on c-5 c-6. Been dealing with alternating levels of a lot to medium pain. For almost the last year. Just want to feel normal again :( also have bad disks in my lumbar. submitted by /u/Sure-Commercial5022 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
