Another Rams rookie WR impressing well above his draft status
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon

There must be something very specific in the water of the Los Angeles Rams scouting department. The Rams have been fantastic in recent years at drafting wide receivers outside the first round, from Cooper Kupp in 2017 to Puka Nacua last year. In 2024, the Rams just might be drinking in another unheralded wideout ready to flood the NFL with early success. This time around, it’s sixth-round rookie Jordan Whittington. The sleek wideout from Texas is off to a great start to his training camp. He’s already earned public praise from his head coach, Sean McVay, as well as Kupp. The 2017 third-rounder ..read more

2025 NFL Draft first impression: Jonah Savaiinaea, OL, Arizona
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon
22h ago
Arizona had a first-round offensive tackle in the 2024 NFL Draft in Jordan Morgan. The Wildcats have another tackle hoping to rise to that level for the 2025 NFL Draft in Jonah Savaiinaea, and he’s got enough potential to work with that it’s a feasible projection. Savaiinaea played right tackle in 2023 after moving outside from right guard in 2022. At 6-foot-5 and 330 listed pounds, the Hawaiian native progressed into playing tackle on the opposite side of Morgan, which frequently led to some disadvantageous matchups for his inexperience. Heading into the 2024 season, a time when Arizona is no ..read more

Saints rookie QB Spencer Rattler gets a great endorsement from one of his WRs
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon
22h ago
Spencer Rattler was the seventh quarterback to come off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the first taken outside the first round. Selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round, the QB from South Carolina is already looking like a great value. Specifically, Rattler has earned an impressive endorsement and review from an important source. Saints wide receiver Chris Olave, the team’s first-round pick in 2022, likes what he sees from Rattler in the early stages of training camp. “He’s really talented,” Olave said of his new quarterback. “Rattler’s arm talent is off the charts.” Ca ..read more

Giants GM's son wanted his dad to trade up for QB Jayden Daniels
The Draft Wire
by Curt Popejoy

The New York Giants selected former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. But if it had been up to Giants general manager Joe Schoen’s son, the team could have traded up and tried to land another LSU Tiger — quarterback Jayden Daniels. On HBO’s “Hard Knocks” Schoen is seen polling his kids about who the Giants should draft in the first round. Schoen’s son had clearly done his homework and decides to throw some serious shade at current Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. “Jayden Daniels. You only get this job once, you need to try to win”. Joe Schoen got a wide ..read more

Texans QB C.J. Stroud with high praise for Patriots rookie QB Drake Maye
The Draft Wire
by Curt Popejoy
2d ago
Last season, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history. Stroud threw for 4,108 yards over 15 starts with a 23 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio. So it makes sense folks are going to want to know what he thinks of the unprecedented quarterback class of 2024. Stroud was asked which of the 2024 quarterbacks is most NFL-ready and he went with New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots selected Maye No. 3 overall out of the University of North Carolina. He went after the Chicago Bears chose Caleb Williams No. 1 overall and the Washing ..read more

2025 NFL Draft first impression: TreVeyeon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon
2d ago
TreVeyon Henderson is a familiar name to many who follow the NFL Draft more than they follow college football. The Ohio State running back was one of the early contenders for the top RB in the 2024 draft class before opting to return to the Buckeyes for another year. A sturdily built back at 5-foot-10 and 212 pounds, Henderson netted just under 6.0 yards per carry in 10 games as a junior, narrowly missing out on the 1,000-yard barrier. Though he’s built like an interior back, Henderson has proven to be effective in all types of running lanes and styles. The Buckeyes tended to have him attack t ..read more

Browns NFL Draft grades: Zak Zinter, OG, Michigan 85th overall
The Draft Wire
by Natalie Miller
2d ago
The Cleveland Browns take yet another step in improving one of the best offensive lines in the entire league and shore up some more depth with the selection of Michigan offensive guard Zak Zinter in the middle of the third round. Zinter does not project as an immediate starter in Cleveland but will get the luxury to develop behind some of the best the game has to offer in current starter Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller. A super productive, refined, vicious brawler, Zinter fits the personality of a Cleveland Brown guard perfectly. Zinter helped anchor one of the best offenses in the nation last y ..read more

2024 Rookie preview: Drake Maye, QB, New England Patriots
The Draft Wire
by Natalie Miller

There has been a large and looming shadow in New England ever since the departure of Tom Brady, one that swiftly sent the Patriot’s last first round quarterback packing. After selecting North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick, the Patriots are hoping to end their streak of shaky quarterback play and bring back some of the consistency their legendary franchise quarterback once gave them in spades. It’s fair to say that Maye is heading into the worst situation out of all his fellow rookie quarterbacks, with the offensive side of the ball in shambles. The cupboard is bar ..read more

2025 NFL Draft first impression: Will Campbell, OT, LSU
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon
4d ago
In looking at some of the early 2025 mock draft projections, LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell is a first-round fixture. After watching a handful of LSU game tapes with a scouting eye on Campbell, it’s easy to see why the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder is so highly regarded. Arriving at LSU as a 5-star recruit and a starting left tackle as a true freshman, Campbell certainly has the bona fides. The size, arm length and athleticism for his body are all very impressive. One of the first things I look for in a left tackle is the initial step in pass protection. Campbell is very explosive out of his set ..read more

Lions place fourth-round rookie on NFI list to start training camp
The Draft Wire
by Jeff Risdon
5d ago
The Detroit Lions open their training camp on Tuesday, but the team will not have one of its fourth-round draft picks available to play right away. After reporting with the rest of the rookie class on Saturday, the Lions placed Giovanni Manu on the non-football injury list. No reason for the move was released by the Lions. Manu had been a full participant in minicamp and OTAs earlier in the offseason. Manu was a surprise selection as the 126th pick in April’s draft after playing in the relative obscurity of Canadian college football at the University of British Columbia. A 6-foot-7, 352-pound ..read more
