My name is Timothy Napper and I first heard about SoulTrak from an instagram post Sportrock shared with its members, the post was for the first outdoor climbing club. I had a great time in the climbing club and met quite a few people that I still climb with to this day. After that initial program I wanted to learn more and help others to experience the outdoors the way I had, so I started out volunteering to support the next climbing and have been there for all climbing clubs since then. Over the course of volunteering with the climbing club I ..read more

My name is Uchenna Ezibe. I first learned about SoulTrak through my home gym, SportRock, as they were partnering with SoulTrak to facilitate an outdoor climbing club. I was fairly familiar with climbing in the gym at that time, but the thought of climbing outside was very daunting. I decided to enroll in the climbing club, however, and quickly became captivated with the process of setting up my own routes and climbing outdoors. The freedom that comes from hiking into the crag with my own equipment and being able to set up my own climbs is incredible, and I am forever grateful to SoulTrak ..read more

Hearing from our Spring Climbing Club

I moved to Washington D.C. in December 2022 from Chicago, where I am from. I took up indoor rock climbing in August 2022 as a way to work through some difficult emotions following the hospitalization and loss of my father. In Chicago, the gyms have several auto-belays so it was easy to rock climb as a workout more than a social activity. When I moved to DC, I joined DC Bouldering Project but found that it was really easy to isolate myself as bouldering can become a single person sport rather than a group sport. I saw one of Soul Trak’s posters at DC Bouldering Projects and started follow ..read more
