The Buried Alive first published in Blackwood's, October 1821 by Anonymous,
John Galt - Scottish Author (no I didn't realize he was scottish when I chose the story just a happy coincidence.) He was the first novelist to deal with issues of the Industrial Revolution and he has been called the first political novelist in the English language.

There is even a cenotaph for him in the sleepy mining town of Sierra Mojada, in the Chihuahua Desert.
