Jordan & Dave's Classic Rock Themed Wedding in Chicago

This was the first wedding I ever flew with my harp for and what a wedding it was. It took place at a stunning renovated warehouse called Company 251. My friend Jordan was a wedding coordinator and now runs a company that rents wedding suits, so I knew this wedding would be planned to a T. One of my favorite touches were the tambourines she had her “entourage” (not to be confused with wedding party ;) carry: We talked about her music list for months. I love classic rock so I was extra pumped to play these favorites. Let’s talk about how she had a song dedicated to her dog walking down ..read more

Emily & Chip's 90's Hip Hop Cocktail Hour

Emily and I met when she answered a sublet request on Craiglist for my apartment circa 2014. We became instant friends and have attended a bunch of concerts together. Fast forward to 2020 and she asked if I would play for her wedding ceremony. After getting rescheduled twice due to Covid, her and Chip finally got married at the Shawnee Inn in the beautiful Poconos in November of 2021. I was warming up and testing my sound equipment before the guests arrived and suddenly the arch blew over. Thankfully no one was hurt but Jay caught my shocked face mid lever change. Despite that mishap ..read more

Flying + Traveling with a Harp

The research + case purchase Traveling with my harp was a vision and goal of mine, but I didn’t expect it to happen as quickly as it did in 2021. A good friend asked if I would play harp for her wedding in Chicago in October. I have a harp friend who lives in Chicago so originally I just asked if I could borrow his for her wedding. Over the summer I thought more about it. Her wedding was classic rock themed and the ceremony music would be love songs by bands like Aerosmith, Van Morrison, and Queen. I knew the electric harp would be perfect for this wedding. I did my research and reached ..read more

Want to Have a Sedona Wedding? Here Are Some Things to Consider…

Sedona is one of the most magical places, in my opinion, to get married. The views are unparalleled but even more than that, there is a very visceral energy you feel as soon as you enter the small city (that feels more like a town). They describe this energy as coming from a vortex, or a spiraling spiritual energy. Call it woo woo or whatever you want, but don’t knock it til you’ve felt it. If you’re in the beginning stages of wedding planning and have never been to Sedona, let alone Arizona, you may be wondering what are some potential pros and cons of deciding to get married in Sedona? As so ..read more

Adapting to 2020 & Weddings During Covid

2020 started out like any other year. For me, it was finally when my fiancé and I were going to get married (after having been engaged for over 2 years and been together for 7 years - we took our time).  Our wedding date was March 12.      You may not remember March 12 (yes, a Thursday wedding - highly recommend), but you probably remember March 13 when the President declared Covid a National Emergency. I was at my house having a post-wedding brunch when my teacher friends started getting emails that school was cancelled for 2 weeks. I started to come out of my wedding ..read more

Melissa and Chris' Remote Sedona Ceremony

I had the pleasure of playing several weddings in Sedona this year and each was unique in its own way. Melissa and Chris had an intimate ceremony overlooking Cathedral Rock accessed by the Slickrock Trailhead. They had a last minute change of location and there was a 10 minute hike to this secluded spot so I couldn’t bring my harp. Instead, I brought my small amp and had pre-recorded their special requests and played them over the amp as Melissa processed down the hill toward the ceremony site. It was stunning. Song list: Parent’s processional - “Aqueous Transmission” by Incubus Bride’s proces ..read more
