Virtual Tour Fall 2020 Thoughts and reflections on giving a virtual tour during COVID-19. In this blog entry, I hope to reflect on this tour, the colleagues worked with, the students listened to, and most of all- how all of this really worked out. Are we really connecting with students? Are we really able to express our art online, without being at a school in person? In Preparation: The back story to the tour. I have included in this post the PDF of the information outline I provided along with the video of the seminar. A big thanks to all those who joined us on Zoom or on the YouTube Live Stream! See you all next week! PracticeTechniquesSummer2020Download ..read more

Students are all looking for the right mouthpiece. This is a difficult topic, because the answer is muddy at best. Finding the right mouthpiece is like finding the right equipment for all players: It depends on you. What works for me, may not work for you. What worked for me when I was 20 DOES NOT work for me now, etc. When I was in high school and undergrad, I spent a lot of time researching equipment, ideas and methods for producing, and spoke with many many many mouthpiece makers, designers, trombone builders, and players. There are proven methods for why certain designs work better than ot ..read more
