DO student who is just looking to match in Chicago or at an institution with a peds cards fellowship. Pretty average student overall with high pass on all my clinical grades, slightly above middle of my class in rankings. Ok research with about 8 posters/oral presentations from college and med school, could maybe have 1-2 pubs by the time apps are due, but this keeps getting pushed back due to things outside my control. Have a couple very good peds letters and some letters from other... Read more ..read more

I see there have been a handful of similar posts before, but I am seeking more detailed information. Would love to hear from as many private practice neonatologists as possible. The most comprehensive compensation data I have seen so far is the 2021 MGMA physician compensation report listing median neo salaries of $371,372. This obviously includes a mix of academic and private practice respondents, as well as low-range and high-range reporters. Private practice neos: What were some... Read more ..read more

Hi All, I was wondering if anybody could give input about this program. My husband is doing fellowship at Montefiore so it is really import to me. I can’t apply outside of NYC programs. One of my close friends is a peds resident at Montefiore, and her feedback is not good. Fellows are over worked and treated badly especially by division chief. Pls let me know or message me if you have any idea. Thanks ..read more

I learn best by doing questions and am interested in doing questions to stay fresh as an attending. I'm almost 10 years out of residency, and I have CME funds that need to be spent so cost isn't an issue. Any thoughts on using med study vs prep vs something else to help keep knowledge up to date and brush up on things you tend to forget seeing the bread and butter of outpatient pediatrics ..read more

Does anyone know what the lifetime earning potential is for Pediatric Cardiac ICU (4 or 5 years of fellowship total) versus Pediatric ICU (3 years of fellowship)? This study (Differences in Lifetime Earning Potential for Pediatric Subspecialists - PubMed) is a great reference, but doesn’t look at if after the standard 3-year fellowship, is doing an extra year or two [to work in pediatric cardiac critical care] a negative financial decision in regards to lifetime financial returns ..read more
