I learn best by doing questions and am interested in doing questions to stay fresh as an attending. I'm almost 10 years out of residency, and I have CME funds that need to be spent so cost isn't an issue.
Any thoughts on using med study vs prep vs something else to help keep knowledge up to date and brush up on things you tend to forget seeing the bread and butter of outpatient pediatrics ..read more

Maybe some of you saw this. It’s a supplement but covers every subspecialty. I only read the critical care one so I don’t know how accurate any of it is.
Pediatrics
The official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the world's leading pediatrics resource Pediatrics is the most-cited journal in pediatric medicine and among the top 100 most-cited journals in all of science and medicine.

Does anyone know what the lifetime earning potential is for Pediatric Cardiac ICU (4 or 5 years of fellowship total) versus Pediatric ICU (3 years of fellowship)?
This study (Differences in Lifetime Earning Potential for Pediatric Subspecialists - PubMed) is a great reference, but doesn’t look at if after the standard 3-year fellowship, is doing an extra year or two [to work in pediatric cardiac critical care] a negative financial decision in regards to lifetime financial returns ..read more

Hi, I am a freshman in college and I am pre-med. I have been wanting to become an outpatient pediatrician inspired by my pediatrician growing up but I am concerned about the stress involved with the role after talking to a pediatrician and whether I can handle that stress given that I have pretty bad anxiety. The pediatrician who I talked to is an outpatient pediatrician and she said that while she loves her job, it is a job where you take your worries from the day home with you, such as...

3rd year medical student who has always been interested in academic medicine and pediatrics. Going into medical school I figured I would do peds and the do a fellowship in something (Cardio, GI, Pulm, Neph). At this point I have done most of my rotations minus IM and I am still leaning towards peds, but I am worried about actually finding a job and being able to pay off my med school debt (most likely $400k+ when I graduate). I would also like to be in Chicago as that is where my...

Do you think it would be fair to let one's pediatrician know that they misdiagnosed them as a child?

Hi, apologies (I did search a bit--but haven't figured out how to restrict searches to the peds forums).
My mother--a pediatrician--is partially retired and thinking of doing locums at a nearby hospital. I do mainly locums but in neurology, so while I'm very concerned to protect my mother from the scummy stuff I see (it takes awhile to get educated on rates, how to negotiate with locums) I have no idea of pediatric locums rates/salaries, what to look into etc.
Anyone have any insight on...
