Achtung! Cthulhu best version?

I’m thinking about going all-in on Achtung! Cthulhu but haven’t been able to find a good comparison between the original version and the newer 2d20 modiphius version. Is there any big difference to the setting/lore between them? What rules system feels better for this setting for those who have played both? Or should I skip this one entirely and stick with pulp Cthulhu? submitted by /u/RadRasputin9 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I used to have access to Flotsam & Jetsam through the cult of chaos. However I lost those pdf files, so I'm not sure where I can get ahold of this collection. Does anyone have any idea where this collection of rough draft scenarios can be found? Also any idea on when the full release is? submitted by /u/TheKonaLodge [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m planning to run my first ever game and one of my players asked if they could play an Eldritch horror. I said no, but I’m wondering if there’s anything human adjacent like a ghoul or lizard person or something that has rules for playing as? submitted by /u/clarkky55 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are there any free Handouts for the Haunting? OR resources for new Keepers?

I am looking to run the Haunting but would like to try some pre-made handouts preferably free due to financial constraints. I have looked at YSDC put you have to subscribe and the ones on DriveThru RPG are mostly paid. I found one free one there which is a good start but not comprehensive. There is no way of knowing how good the paid content is until you have purchased it. submitted by /u/Avocado-Phantom [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Question about the "overwhelm" rule

Hi all, the overwhelm rule as I understand it seems to imply that the party that is being attacked by multiple attackers is still able to respond by dodging, fighting back or maneuvering against EACH attack. I get that the attackers beyond the first get a bonus die. However, it still feels to me that the party being overwhelmed gets to respond like Neo in the Matrix, by getting the opportunity to respond each instance. I think the attackers beyond the first should get a bonus die AND the defending party should NOT be able to dodge, fight back or maneuver against these attacks UNLESS this part ..read more

Help with new campaign/scenario

Hey all. I know there have been many scenarios and campaigns set in New Orleans, but this is the first one I'm trying to write for my group and I'm struggling to figure out a suitable creature(s) to have in the game. I spent alot of my childhood living there and have moved back several times, I'm for whatever reason having trouble narrowing down a creature. Any suggestions are welcome and thank you in advance. submitted by /u/davidmbrowne [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I wanted to run a longer campaign set in the Severn Valley of Ramsey Campbell stories! My idea was to try and incorporate as many of the places and entities of his stories into my campaign as possible, all being connected by an overarching plot! But I’ve run into the problem that I don’t really have any idea for what the overarching plot could be..... Does anyone have any ideas? submitted by /u/RandomGirl467 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Blind Date - A Valentine's Day Special

I know I've missed the boat on 14th February this year, but I've finally put the Valentine's Day scenario I wrote up onto DriveThruRPG. It is very loosely inspired by the 1980's/90's UK television show Blind Date, presented by Cilla Black. Running the playtest was a blast. The speed-dating sections especially were hilarious. Hopefully some of you have some fun with it too. Link - Blind Date: A Valentine's Day Special for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Valentines Day, 1921. What a terrible time to be single - or perhaps not.
