So unschooling doesn't require any curriculum, right? However, the Texas state law requires that homeschooled students learn 5 subjects (reading, grammar, English, math, and good citizenship). How would that work with unschooling? Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? Thanks in advance!

One of my brothers asked me how long it would take to guess a 4 digit code by trying different combinations and I said: “wait, I learned that in university” and we looked it up and calculated it and they had no problem whatsoever following and doing all the math and remained motivated to do looong multiplications on paper for over an hour.
They are going to public school and don’t get good grades in math and I’m so happy to see that if you follow a child’s interest they happily teach themselves higher math that the curriculum would only teach them in several years. At the same time I’m heartb ..read more

Find a nice four-quadrant graph paper on-line (I'll post a link to one at the end) and plot the following lines (I randomized the order somewhat), and the output is a two-story house with a door, five windows, and a chimney. I created the activity for my 5-year-old as a way to introduce him to coordinate systems, and thought I'd share it with whoever likes it:
