Hey Reddit
Idk if this is the type of subreddit for this but I wasn’t sure where else to go so I thought why not ask people who actually, yk, are welders
Right now I’m in my second year of university, taking mechanical engineering as my program. And I don’t know if I can keep going in this program. I had to retake my first year cuz I failed some classes and at the rate it’s going I’m gonna have to do that again for this year, and this program is like 5 years long total, I cannot be spending 2 years for each. I was thinking of maybe a career change, and thought about welding. I have a friend d ..read more

I’m a production mig guy, and I often have a shitload of spatter building up in my nozzles. My company supplies the consumables but it annoys me to go through a nozzle a week almost. I clean it out like every 30 min no matter what I seem to try for a nozzle spray or dip and it’s fuckin up my cones and at times my welds. What do you guys use? Does it help?

Hi, I got a Hone welder for hobby projects and I have done some practice welds okay. But I can't find the sheet that tells you what settings to use for different wire/sticks and thickness of metals (Volts/wire speed)... Nothing on the box or on the welder. Anyone know where I could find these recommended settings? Here is the welder. https://www.amazon.com/HONE-Synergic-Welding-Machine-Inverter/dp/B0BY4PDQPS I looked on Hone's website but it is clearly some junk Chinese site with little to no info on it. Project Farm (youtube) said the Hone welder he got seemed decent so that is why I picked ..read more

Title. I haven't taken a shop/welding class, this is my first time stick welding (welding in general). I feel extremely unprepared for a trade school and welding classes. I worry that others will judge me/my performance due to my lack of skill. I also overthink a lot, so, yeah. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated! Thank you
