In comparison to the non-black population, the pathophysiology of hypertension in the black population is rather different. There is a lot of variation in this research, even though black’s individual with hypertension shows improved sodium retention, larger plasma volume, decreased plasma renin activity, and a bigger increase in blood pressure in response to high amounts of Na+ consumption.
