Как правильно использовать информацию в разделе " Совпадения в Family Finder"

13 ..read more

What to do with SNP and STR results?
FamilyTreeDNA Forums

I ordered a Big Y test a week ago (package including mtDNA) after initially having a Family Finder test and then a Y67 test done. I’ve written about the reasons for this elsewhere in the forum (uncertainty about my father and thus my paternal lineage): https://forums.familytreedna.com/for...-test%E2%80%8B As I’m a complete beginner in these matters, I’d like to better understand how to handle the results, especially when the Big Y results will come in. So far, I’ve already received a confirmed haplogroup FGC-1723 and a bunch of positively tested SNPs, as well as the first 4 STR panels. My qu ..read more

Matches on Y67 only

I have three Swedish men who show up In my matches, on the 67 panel only, all at a GD of 7. According to the SNP Tracker website, they are much, much further upstream than me - i.e., our latest shared SNP has a TMRCA of roughly 1290 BC, at which point they diverge. The three men are much more closely related to each other, however. We have all tested with Big Y. Our Big Y STR differences are 19 of 579, 23 of 626, and 24 of 643. Not sure how close that is(?). My question is: Are we even related ..read more

Trying to Verify Autosomal Results

Per AncestryDNA, I am 3% Jewish which did not show up when I transferred the results to FTDNA. Per Ancestry this comes from my mom's side but I'm not sure mtDNA would show it because I think it is from my mom's paternal side. Unfortunately, my maternal grandfather was put on an Orphan Train by his father in New York so we have little to no records of his line, but his last name was Tribner which is found in Jewish records. Any ideas on how to proceed are most welcome. Thanks, Ed Steele ..read more

Lazaridis et al 2024, "The Genetic Origin of the Indo-Europeans"

Big news, if it stands up under scrutiny and is true. Per the brand new Lazaridis et al preprint, The Genetic Origin of the Indo-Europeans, at least four R1b-L51 have been in found in the steppe pastoralist Yamnaya culture. Here are the sample numbers (look them up in the paper's xl spreadsheet, Table 1): I11838 I12823 I6884 I12893 Anyway, if this is true, thank you, God, because for me it represents answered prayer. I've just started looking at this paper, so I don't have a lot more to say yet, but let's discuss this. It's the biggest news since Papac et al found that the oldest Corded Wa ..read more

Wide cM Range for Known Relationship
FamilyTreeDNA Forums

I have a very interesting new match at Ancestry. It is a maternal first cousin once removed. Nominal DNA sharing is 425 cM. I only share 144 cM on 8 segments with largest segment of 38 cM. My brother shares 463 cM on 17 segments with largest segment of 79 cM. This is his 2nd highest cM match at Ancestry. This once again shows that the amount of DNA shared for a known relationship can be in a very wide range. It also shows that having a sibling DNA test provides useful information about shared matches. Shared cM Project 4.0 shows a range of 102 cm to 980 cM for first cousin once removed ..read more

SNP STR connections. Info please

Hello! A simple question : A person belongs to the same branch as me (Chromosome Y), but we don't have the same terminal SNP on Yfull. I share with a SNP connection, but not STR with him. Does this mean that we have a distant relationship, but not 400-500 years away? On the other hand, I have others who are in the same branch as me, with a different terminal SNP, and I share an SNP and STR connection with them. Thanks for your reply ..read more
